Jaguars Trim Roster to 75 Players
Posted by Alan Wilson on August 26th, 2008 filed in News, Roster MovesThe Jaguars released 5 players to get their active roster to 75 players.
WR John Broussard
WR Jeron Harvey
WR Clyde Edwards
DE Alex Boston
TE Isaac Smolko
None of the cuts are that surprising as these players were really nothing more than camp bodies. Broussard was a 7th round pick in 2007, and seemed to flash decent speed at times. But his route running was pretty much in a straight line down the field, and he never really came into his own.
The real intrigue takes place when the Jaguars get down to 53 players by this Saturday 8/30. It’s almost a sure-fire lock that WRs Jerry Porter, Reggie Williams, Dennis Northcutt, Matt Jones, and Mike Walker will be the top 5 on the depth chart. Will the Jaguars keep 6 wide receivers? WRs Troy Williamson and D’Juan Woods (brother of San Francisco 49ers bust Rashaun Woods) would seem to be the favorites to take that 6th spot. Woods has played much better than Williamson during the preseason and seems to have the inside track. Then again, last year, WR Charles Sharon had a great preseason and did not make the team. The guessing game begins.
