Athlon's AE Conference Preview
The order of finish is as follows:
1) Vermont
2) Boston U.
3) Hartford
4)UMBC
5) Binghamton
6) Albany
7) New Hampshire
8) Maine
9) Stony Brook
All-Conference Selections:
Marqus Blakely, Vermont (POY)
Jay Greene, UMBC
Corey Lowe, BU
Darryl Proctor, UMBC
Mike Trimboli, Vermont
I scanned the page so you can (attempt, the print got blurry in the transition) read the whole article. You can do that by clicking HERE. It is not much in the way of giving analysis, but that is to be expected when you only get one page for your entire conference.
Some other notes of AE interest:
In the Top Transfers section we get the following:
Theo Davis - Gonzaga to Binghamton
"Davis ran into injury and legal issues during his short stay in Spokane. He only played in four games with the Zags last year before bolting in December. Will be eligible at the end of the first semester and should give the Bearcats some athleticism in the frontcourt"
Maurice Joseph - Michigan State to Vermont
"Montreal native returns closer to home after leaving East Lansing where he averaged 5.9 points as a sophomore. The 6'4" guard is regarded as an outstanding outside shooter."
Joe Trapani - Vermont to Boston College
"The versatile 6'8" forward averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds (in only 21.9 minutes) while shooting 40.0 percent from 3-point range in his only season at Vermont. Will be a nice addition to a BC team that needs some offensive options to complement Tyrese Rice."
---------------------------
Vermont is projected as a 13 seed in the south regional pitted against Arizona State. They don't have the Catamounts advancing past the opening round.
--------------------------
Marqus Blakely acrews some accolades as he is listed as an Honorable Mention All-American. He is also considered the 5th best college basketball fantasy sports plaayer in the nation. He was a first round selection (6th overall) in Athlon's fantasy mock draft by writer Doug Ward.
-------------------------
Nothing special in the way of talking about the conference, but it is cool that Blakely got a lot of attention and that Joseph and Davis are listed as top transfers as well. I wonder what Lindy's says...it wasn't at Borders today when I went. Maybe I'll look next week.
