Countdown to a Freeway World Series

It doesn’t happen to often that the two baseball teams in my beautiful region of this country are in the playoffs at the same time. So the dream of all World Series games being played within an hour drive of my apartment is pretty fantastic. So I will be updating all of our loyal readers on the progress of this magical moment throughout the playoffs. What, you wanted Brewers updates from the guy who lives in LA?

Dodgers up 1-0 over Cubs

Before this series even started Cub fans started making up excuses for their eventual collapse. “Too much right handed pitching” they said. “Too much pressure” I heard. “Fokodume has a really funny name” I say. And these “great fans” really showed up last night, booing their team the second things don’t go their way. What really killed the Cubs, besides the three home runs, were the walks. Dempster couldn’t find the plate, and the Dodgers were smart enough to work counts until they got pitches they could drive. It doesn’t hurt that Derek Lowe is pitching for a big contract next season, and Manny is hitting for one either. I think the Cubs will win the next game, and that this series goes all 5 games. Once a series gets to Game 5, all bets are off.

Angels down 0-1 to Red Sox

Just what we all feared: the bats have fallen asleep again. People forgot that the Angels have trouble scoring runs, what with best record in baseball, K-Rod’s save record, and tying up the division a month before anyone else in the AL. They also forget that the BoSox have very good pitching. It’s not time to panic, yet, but it is time to start re-thinking some things. Like running for Vlad in the 8th. Why is he running the bases when he lumbers like his body was put together by random parts at the Human Factory? Unbelievable. Lackey pitched well, but apparently not well enough. The Angels have to win the next game to get that (rally) monkey off their backs and prove to themselves that they can beat the Bostonians.
