So far the fallout from Isaac's firing has continued to be outrage.. Mostly.
Bill Livingston says it is a "stain" on the Indians reputation and gives a little more insight into just what Isaac meant as a bullpen coach.
Just shameful, no one agrees with this move at all. He was a scapegoat in a season that probably didn't NEED a scapegoat. If there was anyone to fire it probably should have been related to the hitting rather the pitching.
Let me change focus and now look towards the off-season.. Tony over at Minor League Insider put out his Tony Awards. Check them out.
Anyway its no secret that the Indians need a starting pitcher to sure up their rotation. Too many questions, a lot of possible answers, but not necessarily the right ones.
Take a look at the NL starters who are free agents and what their classifications are. Now take in mind I do not believe we lose our first round pick this year, because top 15 or somewhere around that are protected.
It's still interesting.
One guy I have on the offseason priority list that I'll be putting out in the next few weeks is Derek Lowe, who according to this projection right now is a Type A free agent. Its funny that the last time Lowe was in this position, starting in the postseason and doing well, he beat the Cubs last night, he got a nice contract because he was a Free Agent.
So he went from being an under the radar pick for me, to being a relatively coveted commodity, oh well.
Out of the ones that are not rated that we should consider are Randy Johnson and Livan Hernandez, Hernandez would be perfect if we were to guarentee Jake Westbrook's return at somepoint mid-way through the season.. Ride Livan like the Twins did and dump him after he eventually fades.
Type B, I'd love to have Greg Maddux but he's staying on the West Coast. Brad Penny would be a nice low-risk incentive laden type of a deal if he doesn't get what he wants on the market. Smoltz, Wolf and Looper are all options if you ask me, but Smoltz might fit us in the Bullpen better.
Plenty of more discussion as we move along though..
By the by, Comeback player of the year, Maybe Cy Young.. But that isn't it as far as awards go... Cliff Lee is up for Pepsi Clutch Player of the Year. The one line on Indians.com says "Lee Is Clutch.... But is he Pepsi Clutch?"
No hes Mountain Dew Clutch!
Whatever, go vote for Cliff Lee because hes the freaking man.
