Oct 7, 2008 | 9:30 PM | Stephon Marbury is a Team Player

When I woke up tonight I noticed on ESPN's news crawl that Stephon Marbury said today that he would gladly give up his starting role for Chris Duhon. This generous announcement comes just about two weeks after Marbury announced that he would be more than happy to not even suit up for the Knicks, just as long as those pay checks kept coming in.

I'm figuring that by the end of training camp Marbury will be so swolled with team pride that he will announce that, for the betterment of the team, he will gladly and humbly accept only a player/coach role. By the All-Star Break, The Meek One will be volunteering his services as a 48-minute man, and will also be the color commentator on the broadcast team.

With the way Marbury's going, I would expect that by the end of the season not only will Stephon be doing the PA announcements at MSG (for the Knicks and the Rangers), but he will be starting at all five positions. Sing Love Me Sexy for the half time show and also be selling MetroCards at the subway stop after the game.

That's just how talented this humble man is.
