Was The Kimbo Vs Cantrell Fight Fixed - With Video

I know that most of us would have loved for the Kimbo vs Cantrell fight to have lasted a little longer than 19 seconds. Still the thought of a respected organization like Elite XC telling a fighter to take a dive is hard for me to swallow.

I don’t think Cantrell would have thrown that spinning backfist if he was going to throw the fight. Then again, the backfist wasn’t close. The first punch Kimbo threw to the armpit didn’t seem to affect Cantrell but the next elbow had to be what stopped him. The elbow looked to me like it just glanced off but if it did connect just behind the ear it could have really hurt Cantrell.

Cantrell probably made anywhere from $2000 to $8000 for the fight. It might be hard for someone like that not to except $50,000 to take a dive. I hope thats not the case and we keep that type of thing out of the top tears of MMA.

Are you kidding right? The Phantom punch & elbow missed the mark. He was hit once in the armpit and barely touched by the elbow. Cantrell was either paid or pissed his pants and quit. What a huge waist of time. Call the PPV and get your money back for that one. No question here, this needs to be reviewed and Cantrell should be fined for the flop.

I watched this fight live and I can honestly say this fight was fixed it stared with an veteran mma fighter letting a guy use one hand to set you up for a punch and even worse not defending himself on the ground. Others will say he didnt have a chance, but fighters who are hurt dont get right up after getting beat down period. Kimbo is a bad dude, but against a mma fighter with 20 fights shouldn’t happen, i think this is a eliteXC ploy to create hype in a weak heavyweight division. that being said kj noons over nick diaz and jake shields over nick pyle were quality fights

This is clearly the most obvious set up K.O ever. Lookm how Cantrell made no effort to defend himself, look at the flurry after the blotched upercut, Cantrell clearly hesistates and waits for a kimbo Offensive. Then he drops to ground like a 400 lb slob, throwing his hands on his head for half a second, then taps frantacly. Disgusting, i dont think im going to watch another Elite XC ppv ever again after that disgrace. I have watched all of Kimbos street fights, and he is bad ass, but an armpit upcut, and a leniant elbow would never put a man of Cantrells size down naturally…. Look at the fight again,slow it down this time and when the initial flurry takes place in the corner, look at every movement Cantrell makes and tell me it is not set up…. Watch it again, now listen to the commentaors comments, you think Joe Rogan or any legit commentaor wouldnt point out the fact it was a blotched upercut.. then never watch Elite XC again.

LISTEN. Everyone can say whatever they want about the fight. The fact is Kimbo CAME to fight. No, it was not staged, obviously Bo felt some punishment, and quit like a little baby. Kimbo is the real deal, and he is well trained and ready to fight anyone. It’s not his fault that his opponent backed out like a bitch and tapped. I’m not saying Kimbo is a god, and he has a long ass way to go before any titles. The fact is, we love to see him fight, and as an mma fan like all of you, he has a long way to go before he gets to the top, but I wish him well, and he brings the excitement that every hard core mma fan loves to bring. It’s fighters like him that keep us entertained.

Obviously the fight sucked, but Kimbo hasn’t proven anything yet. Once he fights a GOOD opponent, and either wins or goes the distance, he will just be another brawler in my book. He hasn’t shown anything but maybe the ability to punch hard! He definitely has NO ENDURANCE, the guy hates running and cardio. He did lose in his only endurance test to Gannon. If you pause the fight, you can clearly see that his right elbow lands perfectly to the side of the head/ear area of Bo, which is where your nerves connect behind the jaw and is an easy place to be knocked out when hit, so dive, no I don’t believe so, just one damn good punch to the right spot.

My first concerns about kimbo having cancelled the Tank Abbott fight was fishy. I figured that some smart salesman said “Hey, why are we blowing the opportunity to PUMP UP this Kimbo guy and make ALL the money on the popular brawler.”
Think about it. Why the hell wouldn’t they do that? Having Kimbo fight a “Real” Badass like Tank would end his short ass MMA career. I love watching Kimbo kick ass on the internet with these heartless bozos. I was living for the Tank Abbott fight, and now I’m crapped out about the whole ordeal.

i dont think its a dive, the boob shot wouldve likely not effected cantrell but he did lean to the side and expose his whole ear area and kimbo crushed him with an elbow. that was not a phantom elbow and as we seen in other fights like cote vs grove you dont need to put that much mustard to send someone onto queer street when hitting them in that area. cantrell was rocked and probably just panicked from the follow up damage more than anything and tapped out.

cantrell likely didnt prepare and decided to pack it in the first moment of trouble. i doubt is was fixed. would elitexc not then want to fix diaz vs. noons so they may hype nick diaz one of the most exciting 160lb fighters rather than have their new champ be a one dimensional striker who got ktfo by krazy horse?

I don’t know about the fight being fixed. Bo Cantrell took a serious shot arount the armpit/chest area that made his knees buckle. If you watch the replay of this fight you’ll see it happen. After that I think he knew he was in trouble. As for the elbow/phantom punch it never happened. The punch and elbo to the head never found it’s mark. But that punch to the body did. Either way Cantrell is a PUSSY, and should’ve never even taken the fight. I doubt seriously if the fight was fixed.

Kimbo caught him with a glancing blow that probably made cantrell a little dioriented. As a fight it sucked ass but what can you do. Whether Elite was making sure that Slice won big, or Cantrell received a visit from the mob, or whether Cantrell was simply so SCARED that he literally put both hands together for THE PERFECT DIVE, Elite should have IMMEDIATELY APOLOGIZED for the JOKE that the fight was. Unfortunately, I agree with the guy who thinks that the Tank Abbott fight was canceled because Slice simply cannot lose for at least 3-4 fights to have promotional power. I just reviewed the “fight” again, and two things jump out: 1) the announcers were ready to annoint Slice as the Baddest Ass Who Ever Lived from the get-go, which seemed weird, and 2) more importantly, while it is true that even a glancing blow to the right part of the head can end a fight, it usually is not followed by the acute, conscious, quick mat-tapping movements employed by Cantrell, who boasted in his pre-fight that he was afraid of no man. When you get rocked, you act rocked, and for more than a split second.

In regards to Pothead’s comments: You don’t know shit about MMA. I like Kimbo but he has fought a bunch of stupid bouncers. When he fought Mercer he took him straight to the ground. Mercer called him out before the fight and said to keep to the stand up and Kimbo wanted no part of that. It is a shame because I think it is not Kimbo who knew the fight was fixed but the people behind him. He is obviously upset that the fight ended so soon. As for Bo Cantrell, his family should never speak to him again. I think Kimbo is a good guy…I have actually met him. I just wish the people behind the Kimbo hype would take a more direct approach to MMA instead of making him out to be a “freak show”. He could be a good MMA fighter….MMA is a sport that should be respected and not thought of as a bunch of streetfighters.

One little problem there. Cantrell didn’t lose consciousness, hence he wasn’t “knocked out”.In fact if you look at the shot it wasn’t even hard enough to jolt cantrells head.
