It hasn't been easy being a sports fan in Minnesota. All of their top athletes seem to be leaving. They've watched David Ortiz rocket to fame with the Red Sox, Randy Moss chase the MVP award in New England, and Kevin Garnett return the Celtics to relevance (heaven only knows what the good folks of the Twin Cities will do if Manny Fernandez ever leads the Bruins to the Stanley Cup.)But ever persistent, Minnesota sports fans press on, finding a new roll call of heroes to call their own. So what happens? Adrian Peterson rips his knee up, Torii Hunter bolts for Southern California (before musing that nobody wants to play for Minnesota), and Johan Santana is being shopped to the Yankees. To make matters worse, if Santana goes, so may closer Joe Nathan.
There are indications from some club officials that if Santana is dealt, they also might look to move closer Joe Nathan, who will make $6 million in 2008.All this, and Wes Walz leaves too? A cold city grows colder.
Nathan's situation mirrors Santana's. Both are considered among the best at their positions. Both can become free agents after the 2008 season. The Twins have been unsuccessful in trying to sign either to long-term deals. Both could fetch quality players who could help keep the club competitive, although the return for Santana likely would be much greater.
"You hear the rumors," Nathan said from his home in Tennessee. "It's something you know is an option for them."

I hate Minny for giving Boston all their good players.

Nathan to the Brewers makes a ton of sense.
