Why is Ohio State in the National Championship Game? December 4, 2007

This BCS thing works so well, that the NFL, NCAA Basketball, and FCS should adopt it, a one weekend tournament.

A team from the SEC should always be in the title game. We should just reserve the BCS championship game berth for the winner of the SEC Championship Game, because the SEC CG is all that really matters in college football. The rest of college football  is just a filly glip.

The SEC is one helluva football conference. Everyone  complains that they should really compete in the NFL, but when the rubber meets the road other teams know that they have been pwned by a bunch of speed merchants with leetsauce running through their veins.

Gee…the rest of y’all look so small from way up here in the SEC…

Is anyone else tired of ESPN sucking Big 10 cock? I’m so tired of hearing how great tOSU is. You’ll never hear Brent Musberger/Herbie/Corso/Fowler/May/Danielson/Flutie/Tirico doing anything of the sort.

Ohio State = 2nd place. Can’t wait to see any team from SEC against the Fighting Sweater Vests. Name ONE legitimate team OUTSIDE of Michigan that Ohio State beat this year. Go ahead.  I will wait while you search……

LSU is not perfect, but they are much more battle tested than “THE Official Second University” College football is so fucked up. USC and Georgia are playing better right now than anyone else in the country, yet neither have a chance for the title (unsurprisingly, given Georgia’s lack of a conference title and USC’s loss to Stanford).

LSU is a very decent team but tOSU just fucking blows, but OSU played in a weak Big 10 and struggled in games they shouldn’t have, and LSU is lucky they don’t have 4 losses. It sure is gonna be interesting to see what happens when the Failboats match up with the athleticism of a top-tier SEC team. WTF did I just say? Every team in the SEC, with the exception of Ole Miss, is top tier.

I can take solace, though, that at least THIS YEAR, Notre Dame didn’t waste a BCS bowl slot.

Couldn’t we just set up and exhibition between Hawaii and Notre Dame so we can watch the ranibows rack up 700 yards on the Irish and still let them feel like their accomplishments are important?

2. Jokers Wild - December 4, 2007

A team that loses to Louisana Monroe is not top tier!!!

3. Jai Eugene - December 4, 2007

I am shifting gears to Big 10 bashing….more follow this week

4. Comans - December 4, 2007

Jokers Wild, you forget that in college football, a team’s name is more important than record in determining top tier-ness. ;)

5. BigFootFool - December 4, 2007

Vandershit is definately not top-tier either, and while my homerism tells me to say Arky is top-tier, but they are not also….

But compared to the Big 10leven… every team but Vandy and Ole Miss are Top 10

6. BigFootFool - December 4, 2007

Aww man… I accidentally just put my school on the level with Vandy and Ole Miss without pointing out that there are a lot of non-top-tier teams in the SEC…

7. artiger - December 4, 2007

Vandy and Ole Miss have head coaches

8. Ears Whitworth - December 4, 2007

How can you miss getting a Bowden?

9. AngryEer - December 4, 2007

Like LSU, tOSU must be breating a huge sigh of relief not having to face the 3-3-5

Oklahoma Sux

Aside from team ESPN having their lips wrapped around the Big Ten’s cock all season, the one thing that pisses me off about the conference is that they don’t play a conference championship game.

Find a 12th team or move to round robin scheduling like the Pac 10 and Big East. Its bullshit how a scenario could exist when an above average team could go undefeated and win the conference without playing the top 2 teams.

11. artiger - December 4, 2007

@9 No, we’re just relieved that we’re not playing Pitt.

West Vagina should join the Big 10leven…would fit right in.

12. Brian - December 4, 2007

The Bowl Season does a nice job, annually, of pitting the Big10 and SEC against each other for bragging rights. We got it again this year but only 3. UT\Wisconsin is a tough call but UF and LSU should run OSU and UM down.

The most intriguing matchup, to me, is UCF\Miss St.

13. Vincent - December 4, 2007

@10 It’s never happened in the BCS era. Northwestern did it back in the mid 90s, but it hasn’t happened since then. The Big Ten has tried to drag Notre Dame into the conference ever since Lou Holtz left, and they just won’t let go of that NBC contract. I could see Louisville, West Virginia, Cincinnati, or Pitt joining the Big Ten before ND ever does.

14. lawvol - December 4, 2007

Here’s an article which pretty much explains it all… http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff226/lawvol98/tOSU-FrontPage-1.jpg

15. Ears Whitworth - December 4, 2007

nice work lawvol

16. Jayhawk - December 4, 2007

Notre Dame would get their asses kicked in the Big 10– even last year’s team that was WINLESS against B10 opponents.

Loves Ohio State? I haven’t heard one positive word their way all season until they were #1 for two weeks.

You see, when they are in big games, Ohio State acutally wins 90% of the time, unlike LSUcks.

17. Bucknutt - December 4, 2007

Hey guys, FYI, the Big Ten has given up on ND coming in. Coming into this year the talk all seemed to linger on Mizzou coming into the big ten. as for who else would come in, I think UC, WVU, maybe pitt. Thats about it on this side, then maybe Iowa State or mizzou

18. TigerShark - December 4, 2007

LOL, Jayhawk. That was a good one. You’re probably right that LSU only wins 80% of its big games. We just play a lot more of said big games than, say, Kansas (0-1 in big games).

21. Joe Fox - December 6, 2007

This is indeed a funny post.

As porous defensively - and impotent offensively, let’s not deny it - as Tennessee is, the World’s Greatest Football Team from the World’s Greatest College Football Conference needed an interception return to beat them. An interception return off a pass that a fourth-grade quarterback in Pony League play probably wouldn’t make.

I don’t know if Ohio State will beat LSU in what is essentially a home game or not. I do know that it will be a good game - a close game - and if Les Miles is indicative of the kind of coaching genius the Buckeyes can expect to face from the SEC, well….

22. tOSU - December 6, 2007

You really think that ESPN loves the Big Ten! Are you crazy? There’s this new network that is going to one day rival ESPN and its name is the Big Ten Network…ESPN is not very happy about this new competition and has thus flip flopped on Big Ten Nation and now does nothing but talk about how great the SEC is as a conference. Give me a freaking break! That’s really funny because they used to hate on the SEC. The SEC may have more parity than any other conference but that does not make it any better of a conference, let alone the best. Games are closer, which make for entertainment but there are no blowouts-what’s the fun in that…one team should reign supremecy over their conference.

23. artiger - December 6, 2007

@22 I think the SEC has been looking at its own network as well. Guess the boys at ESPN can give some lovin’ to the Big LEast?

24. Ken - December 6, 2007

jai,
Pretty good ranting, coming from a 4 loss program. Couldn’t beat ‘bama, huh? Well, the years of inbreeding have finally kicked in for you.

25. Jai Eugene - December 6, 2007

Thanks Ken. We now know that since Bama lost to the ULM Fighting Nutria, that Bama is now UT’s Appy State. that is just how far the bammeroids have fallen…..

Are you familiar with Appy State, Ken?

26. OhYeah - December 6, 2007

What a bunch of morons here! LMAO. You crapbirds actually think last year’s debacle will carry over?

I hope you frame this comment and come back and look at it AFTER OSU fills LSU’s ass with a bucket of buckeyes!!! SEC SUCKS as usual. A bunch of MEDIOCRE teams that have to puff themselves up by playing each other to look good. HHAHAHAHAHAHA

What a load of SEC crap!

Go Bucks!

27. Ears Whitworth - December 6, 2007

Dear Lord, Only OSU believes in OSU. Bad boring football. The worst fans in football.

The conference is ranked by the computers as #6!! The Big East is rated as abetter brand of football that the Big 10

I agree with the computers

Buckeyes suck

28. Ears Whitworth - December 6, 2007

@26 yes i do. lsu isn’t Kent State

29. AngryEer - December 6, 2007

Ears

I bet ole sweater vest was pissing his tightie whities thinking about playing my Eers.

30. artiger - December 6, 2007

So was Dave

31. AngryEer - December 6, 2007

Gerry DiNardo was the best

32. tOSUBuckeyes - December 6, 2007

Big deal, you guys beat ND in a bowl game…who hasn’t. We put 617 yards of offense on them in 2005 by the way.

33. Mike - December 7, 2007

Check out the graphic at http://www.firenick.com and see how OHIO State has a pussy ass schedule compared to the other top 10 teams. Herbstreit is such a homer.

34. Lloyds Apple - December 7, 2007

The Big Ten has a better record over the SEC over the last 5 years.

They were 2-1 in bowl games against the SEC last year.

They have more potential NFL talent, and more current NFL talent, than any SEC team.

Get over it.

35. Lloyds Apple - December 7, 2007

By “they” I’m referring to Ohio State.

36. Ears Whitworth - December 7, 2007

@34 What does the NFL have to do with OSU being 0-8 versus the SEC in bowls? Or having a completely dsimal record overall vs the SEC? Or that the 2 of the wins vs the SEC were Vandy and UK???

37. Kris from chicago - December 8, 2007

i see everyone has forgot about 2002, miami had the game all locked up against an ohio state a team that did’n deserve to be there, turned out to be a double over-time thriller. i think this national championship will turn out to be along the same lines.

Ohio State - 35
LSU - 28

38. Jai Eugene - December 8, 2007

Chris, nobody likes to discuss “tainted” wins.

39. Chris - December 9, 2007

“tainted” win….hell it shouldn’t have gone into overtime. I guess you missed that blatant hold on Miami’s big punt return that set up the tying score. That’s tainted for ya. I guess you see what you want to see and miss what you don’t.

40. Chris - December 9, 2007

Oh….and Ohio State is playing in the national championship game…….again…….for the 3rd time in 5 years. Suck on that one for a while.

41. Billy Dee - December 21, 2007

Note the 2002 BCS game OSU beat Miami in tripple OT. OSU came in a 14 pt. underdog. Not one broadcast entity had anything good to say for the Bucs.Tressel will not be outcoached by Miles.

OSU 35
LSU 21

42. Jai Eugene - December 21, 2007

I agree Les mIles will never win a coaching contest.

LSU 42
Failboats 16

43. CHRISWELLSISABEAST - December 26, 2007

Jeeze alot of Big 10 Haters….. All I have to say is that if Ted Ginn was still in NCAA he would have won the heisman…. Troy Smith Blew everyone away in a landslide of points and I think Ted Ginn would have ran everyone down just like he did on the opening kickoff in the 2007 BCS Game. Nobody on Florida could catch him and the SEC is all about Speed? Lmao…losers This is a biased ass website too you guys need to learn to be more well rounded not Just SEC SEC SEC SEC.

44. CHRISWELLSISABEAST - December 26, 2007

You SEC people are just mad that we have 7 National Titles and tied with Notre Dame and USC… WHERE ARE THE SEC TEAMS??? Florida 2 LSU 0 ARK. 0 FSU 2.

45. Taco Bell Soft Tacos - December 26, 2007

What happened after that Ted Ginn TD? 41-14 bitches. “Honestly, we’ve played a lot better teams than them,” Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. “I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them.”

Arkansas has a NC (1964), 3 NC’s, not zero, for LSU you fucking twat, and FSU isn’t even in the SEC you stupid fuck.

And you conviently left out Tennessee and Alabama. UT has 2 and Alabama has 12, if you don’t believe it, just ask them.

46. Joel - December 26, 2007

You cannot be serious. Before you open your mouth, you might wanna do a google search on SEC teams & number of national titles. Either that, or you have never run into an Alabama fan in your lifetime. They will tell you how many titles they have, plus give you a story about how the Bear influenced their life…

What more can one say about “Slowhio” State that can’t be said about Afghanistan in the winter…

47. gatorhippy - December 27, 2007

CWIAB, I suggest you go back and watch that opening kickoff again…

The only reason Ginn sprung that return was because of a hold on Reggie “Fucking” Nelson…

If not for that hold, the Suckeyes score one touchdown all night long…

48. Ed Orgeron's Agent - January 10, 2008

Hellooooooo, where are all you OSU fans at now? Lets hear the excuses? You got owned again by the SEC. There’s a link over at http://www.firenick.com for the michigan fans too.

49. CHRISWELLSISABEAST - January 13, 2008

Stiff Arm

50. artiger - January 13, 2008

That’s about all you have to show for your efforts. Yankee, go home.

51. Joel - January 13, 2008

Damn shame that one stiff arm couldn’t translate to a bowl win. Once again, Slowhio St. could not compete. Do you realize you got out schemed by Les Miles???
