This Week is Make-or-Break Time for the BYU Cougars
Two weeks off, two weeks on…that’s how it has seemed to go for the Cougars this football season.
Two average games to start the season, two mind-blowing shutouts after that, and two head-scratching snoozefests after that.
But with games remaining at TCU, at Air Force, and at Utah, BYU can ill-afford to continue to play inconsistent football.

A Search for the Nation’s Best Logo
Today I started my conquest for the nation’s best logo (for college teams, of course). I started my journey searching on google images, and ended up hitting a gold mine at logoserver.com. Unfortunately, by that time I had already looked so much that my hunger and obligations to perform other activities only let me get through the Fs.
So here are the logos I have so far chosen as prime candidates for best logo from around the nation…
Brown Bears — It’s as if the bear wants to hug you and maul you all at the same time.
Canisius Golden Griffins — Props to them for making a somewhat menacing yet visually appealing griffin.
Grand Rapids Community College Raiders — An excerpt from their website: “Grand Rapids Community College’s mascot is the Raider, an intelligent, resourceful and cunning creature whose teeth and claws are a force to be reckoned with. The Raider embodies the values of Grand Rapids Community College.” Hence the raccoon being the raider.
Georgetown Hoyas — It’s the most calm, cool, collected bulldog creature in sports. Georgia’s looks drugged and Fresno’s looks like it’s straight out of Disney’s archives.
Sam Houston State Bearkats — Can’t beat 3D-looking letters.
Evansville Purple Aces — How much can you do with a purple ace? I give them credit.
UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs — A slug is reading Plato. Come on. That’s good.
Temple Owls — That owl looks like it’s about to go crazy with its yellow eyes.

You sure that Grand Rapids Raider is a fox? Because it looks eerily similar to a raccoon. Plus a raccoon seems to me to be more of the “raider” type.
ReplyUm, I think that Grand Rapids one is a racoon dude.
ReplyHm… upon further review, I agree.

The Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops is pretty awesome, we’re D3 though
ReplySpeaking as someone from the Communications Department at GRCC who was involved in the process of creating the Raider logo, I can confirm that it is indeed a raccoon.
