Line of the Night: DeShawn (5.74) had an excellent shooting night, and even though he only had 3 rebounds and 3 assists, he made 6 threes and had 2 steals. Good enough to be out Kobe for the top spot. And when there’s only 2 games played, and Kobe’s in one of them, that’s no easy task.
Speaking of 2 games played, did David Stern know that the Mitchell Report would be published yesterday? It was a brilliant move to have only 2 games on a day when no matter what anyone did on the basketball court, people would not be paying attention. And even if Kobe had scored 100 points, people would probably just start thinking he’s on steroids.
Honorable Mentions: Kobe (5.52) didn’t shoot that well from the field, but he did have 4 steals and 7 rebounds to go with his 30 points. Robert Horry (5.03) had 3 blocks, 2 steals and 2 threes. And when only 40 players are on the floor, that’s good enough for 3rd out of 40.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Chris Quinn (4.48) has played 30+ minutes in 3 straight games now. He came off the bench last night to make 6 threes after starting 2 games while J-Will was injured. The Heat lost with J-Will starting, so perhaps Quinn is in line for a promotion.
Rise With Us: Tim Duncan didn’t play, and this time it was Fabricio Oberto who stepped up to gather 16 rebounds. He also had 9 points, a block, a steal, and some efficient shooting. If he’s available in your deeper leagues, you might consider him while Duncan is out.
Goat of the Night: It’s hard to name a GotN with only 40 people to choose from, but the starting PG for the Miami Heat was 0/3 yesterday, and only played 14 minutes. Big Shaq Diesel evidently thinks that since Houston can win a game shooting 27%, it’s okay for him to do as well. And it would be if he had more than 7 points and 6 rebounds.
