Bowl Update — New Mexico RB out for New Mexico Bowl

Posted on December 18th, 2007 by Andrew Perkins in Bowls, Football, Nevada, New Mexico

I must amend my analysis and prediction of the New Mexico Bowl.

Lest we forget, I predicted a 27-24 OT win in favor of Nevada.

rodney-ferguson.jpgESPN has brought to my attention that RB Rodney Ferguson will now be ineligible to play for the Lobos on Saturday.

That’s really unfortunate. Ferguson is the most important piece of that offense. Without his ability to gain chunks of yards at a time, New Mexico’s offense should struggle.

I said earlier this game had potential. I was conflicted as to which team would win. With this news, it’s a no brainer.

I hope his teammates are pissed off. Academic eligibility is a must, and really the only way it doesn’t happen is if you’re lazy.
