If questions remain about whether or not Donovan McNabb
will be wearing a Philadelphia Eagles uniform next season, they certainly aren't coming from him.
On Wednesday, the controversy surrounding his pre-game interview with FOX sideline reporter Pam Oliver lingered in the auditorium of the NovaCare Complex, but McNabb, as he has all year, tried his very best to clear the air.
"Every time I've been asked that question, I've said I'd be back and look forward to maybe being back for eight more years," McNabb said. "That's kind of always been my answer all season. Nothing has changed from that. (Eagles president) Joe (Banner) came out to say I'll be here and I've always said that myself."
The topic of McNabb's future in Philadelphia and his now infamous conversation with Oliver was not broached until the end of the quarterback's weekly meeting with the media.

QB Donovan McNabb
McNabb was more gregarious than he has been in weeks, and even though he made a point of saying that he considers the issue a thing of the past, when pressed, he spoke earnestly about what he sees as a misunderstanding between Oliver and himself.
Since Sunday, Oliver has stood by her report in which she suggested that McNabb felt the Eagles organization was distancing itself from him and that he expected to be playing elsewhere next season.
McNabb said on Wednesday that Oliver had paraphrased remarks he made in a pre-game conversation incorrectly.
"She told you she paraphrased. That's what she took from what I said. That wasn't a direct quote from me," McNabb said. "I did go to Syracuse University and I definitely know when somebody says a statement, that's what you say in their statement."
McNabb also added that he was unsure of whether or not his remarks to Oliver were on the record, or simply part of a conversation.
"If you are asking a question of somebody, you are asking a question, but if you are just having a normal conversation with somebody that's not just something you go and report," McNabb said. "Again, that issue is over, we're moving on to the Saints and trying to help ourselves to win this game and have a good Christmas."
During the rest of his 20-question press conference, McNabb sounded very much like a quarterback who plans to take the first snap of the 2008 season from Jamaal Jackson. He spoke about how victories in Philadelphia's two remaining games would give the team momentum that it could carry forward into the offseason.
He deferred questions about offseason personnel moves to the front office, but spoke at length about what it will be like to enter next season completely healthy. Barring injury in the final two games of the season, 2007 will be the first season in three years in which McNabb finished the season at full health.
"I would treat it like one of the most important offseasons for me because obviously I did finish the season off and the last two years just didn't go as well as I wanted it to," McNabb said. "It's about being able to start fresh, start all over again and come back with a whole different attitude knowing that I am healthy."
It's also about moving past questions regarding his future. Head coach Andy Reid said Monday that he was "sick and tired" of talking about the subject, and McNabb said basically the same Wednesday.
"It's over, in my mind, it's a dead issue," McNabb said. "I'm just focusing on the Saints right now."

seriously mcnabb is clearly the QB for the eagles. why throw away the guy who led the eagles to 4 straight NFC championships and a superbowl trip? sure the seasons after his superbowl appearance has been OK and not great, but give him time. i see him returning to his MVP form next season. look at brett favre the past couple seasons. he didnt play great football the last couple years. evryone pushd him to retire season after season and look at him now. dont let mcnabb go. grab a elite WR. get a quick elusive kick/punt returner (even tho i like westbrook to do that). go EAGLES |

This Amazing quarter back has led us to 3 NFC Championships WITHOUT ANY ELITE RECIEVERS. What do you want him yo do? Win the SuperBowl with a running back as his WR?.. Uhh no.
You draft a couple of GOOD WR. Dont get a QuarterBack (LOOK WHO WE HAVE) That was the biggest waste of time ever! Why get a QB? Get somone MCNABB can use. Did you see how he played with T.O? Dont think about puttiing Feely as out starter.. IT was his fault we lost to New England. We should have ran the ball, and wasted the clock.. why chuck the ball down field and get a TD? We would have to give NEW England the ball (best offense in the league) He threw 7 ints in TWO GAMES.. No one can match up to Donavan. Mcnabb = no Eagles. He only throws what? 7 ints a year? We need to give him ATLEAST 2-3 more years to see what he can do.. Matt Kold is good. But not good enough to get us to the SuperBowl. KEEP DONAVAN MCNABB |

All the fans and press who don't think or want McNabb back next year are just ignorant. They don't know what they are talking about. i like how that lady on the sideline said McNabb was playing his last games. HAS SHE READ ANY ARTICLES ON THE EAGLES RECENTLY, WHERE DID SHE GET INFORMATION LIKE THAT! I think if the EAGLES can get an elite reciever (Brown and Curtis are good but not elite) like Chad Johnson (I tihnk he is an unrestricted free agent) for McNabb, then the EAGLES will be Super Bowl contnenders again. I have confidence Mcnabb can have a great season next season. He still has 5-6 or even 6-7 good years left. |

Yea McNabb is the answer to us having successful seasons to come other than this one. I have always backed McNabb. Many philly fans and the media are calling for him and Andy Reid to recieve the boot from Joe Banner in the 2008 off season. The man is still hurting from his knee injury so he is gonna work hard this off season and come back strong next year and have a good season. If he comes back and does what he did this season next season, then McNabb has to go in the 2009 off season no questions asked! But I have faith in McNabb. What QB doesn't have a bad season once in a while. The media and some ignorant fans need to shut up and incourage McNabb for next year instead of maligning him every chance they get. So McNabb get health this off season because we didn't get a chance to get to the playoffs and come back strong during training camp and shut all of your haters up and get back to your probowl level next year. |
