Although for the last six years Heisman voters have given the trophy to arguably the best player on the best team in the country--at the time voting opened--there is always a chance for a dark-horse candidate to emerge. And if trophy goes to someone you had never heard of, we'd put our money that it will go to Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama...if he can avoid the injuries which plagued him and his team in 2006.Tuitama's troubles began early in the season when his offensive line failed to practice together once before the season began. Then, Tuitama suffered crushing blows--and concussions--against Louisiana State, UCLA and Arizona State.
But when he wasn't sidelined, Tuitama shined--leading his Wildcats to upset victories against Washington State, Oregon and California during what would otherwise have been a November to Remember...if only he could.
Yet the flashes of brilliance Tuitama showed when he was healthy as a sophomore make us wonder what he'll be able to do as a junior with a more experienced and cohesive offensive line to protect him in 2007.
