The Minnesota Vikings can be summed up in one word, pathetic. Pitiful, horrible, embarrassing, unwatchable, boring, and LOSERS are other words that come to mind when thinking about the Vikes.Once again in a game they should have won, they LOST. Eagles quarterback, Donovan McNabb threw all over the Vikes and the Vikes offense was again TERRIBLE.
McNabb ended up throwing for 333 yards and one touchdown. The Vikes started Kelly Holcomb who threw for 88 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a neck injury. He was pile driven into the turf by his facemask by some Eagle player.
With Holcomb out, Brooks Bollinger took over. The third stringer showed some spark, but only threw for 94 yards. Neither quarterback had a turnover.
As usual, the Vikes lone touchdown was on their first drive. Tight end, Visanthe Shiancoe caught a nine yard touchdown pass from Holcomb. Honestly, what is up with the Vikes scoring on the first drive and then not being able to get a first down, let alone another touchdown? I seriously don’t get it.
The Vikes kicked an onside kick and recovered it (Heath Farwell). However, where most teams would at least get a field goal, the Vikes drive was: sack, incomplete pass, intentional grounding and punt. WOW.
That was pretty much how the day went. Even Adrian Peterson had a tough day. He carried the ball 20 times and only had 70 yards. AD looked okay, but as a kickoff returner he made a HUGE blunder. When receiving the kickoff to start the second half, AD caught the ball and stepped out at the ONE yard line. That was a bad mistake.
The Eagles Brian Westbrook scored two touchdowns. One rushing and one on a shovel pass.
GAME NOTES
Once again, Erasmus James was inactive. He’s turning out to be a total bust. Also inactive were Dwight Smith and Aundrae Allison. Tank Williams started again for Smith.
Apparently the refs don’t call blocks in the back on special teams anymore.
Something named Trent Cole SCHOOLED Bryant “Lazy Piece of Crap” McKinnie all day. I don’t know who is worse, the Vikes quarterbacks or their offensive tackles. Ryan Cook is not an NFL player. He actually makes McKinnie look decent and that’s tough to do!
Kenechi Udeze and Ben Leber had sacks for the Vikes.
Kicker, Ryan Longwell made all three of his attempts (39, 32 and 48). Both Longwell and punter, Chris Kluwe get a lot of playing time with this joke of an offense.
NEWT'S GAME BALLS
Offense – Adrian Peterson
Defense – Pat Williams
Special Teams – Ryan Longwell
WHAT NOW?
Although it isn’t entirely Brad “Chilly” Childress’ fault, he has to go. I would honestly fire him tonight and let Defensive Coordinator, Les Frazier interim as the Head Coach for the rest of the year.
After firing Chilly, I would cut Ryan Cook, Jim Kleinsasser and Troy Williamson. I’d bench McKinnie; start Holcomb or Bollinger at quarterback for the rest of the year and START Sidney Rice. I have no clue why this kid does not play.
At 2-5, honestly the best thing for the Vikes would be to LOSE the remaining nine games. They might not have to try to hard to do that. Besides Peterson and Rice, the rest of the team I would consider trading, cutting or whatever this offseason.
Bottom line is, the 2008 Vikings blow. Their coach is an idiot, their defense can’t stop the pass and their offensive passing game is nonexistent.
Here’s hoping for 2-14. With the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select...

And who would you start in place of McKinnie? Johnson? He can't even beat out Ryan Cook (who, is being asked to play a position he never played in college).
While I think the Vikings have some serious problems, and are simply a bad team with bad coaching, your post just goes to show that you have no football knowledge.
I forgot to add that the best the Vikings will be in the draft is 4th overall considering Atlanta, Miami, St. Louis, and the Jets are not going to win any of their remaining games. Too bad only 3 of those teams need a QB too.
Chilly, it's nice to know you read the blog!
ok, even if I thought firing Childress was a good idea, replacing him with Frazier is a worse one. What is the biggest problem the Vikings have right now? Inablity to stop anyone with a competant passing attack. And some of that has to be on Les Frazier. Other teams find a way to get pressure on a QB, even with personnel issues. Cover 2 D requires that the front 4 provide pressure without blitzing, and we can't get it done.
Childress is an easy target right now, and he's the head coach so at the end of the day he has to take the blame, but firing him will do nothing. It will not position the team for next year (unless you really think the team would hire the interim coach permanently), it will not win more games.
QB is clearly a position that needs to be addressed, but it sounds like everyone at Winter Park gets that with the comments that came out this week on Jackson. (and neither St. Louis nor the Jets necessarily need a QB; St. Louis has Bulger who is very good if he has anything resmbling an O-line, and the Jets invested in Clemens)
I do find the ability of the Vikings to score on the first drive and then immediately go into the tank baffling. Maybe Chilly is like Denny in that respect: can't make enough in-game adjustments?
James is a bust? Yea, if getting hurt makes you a bust. From what I've been able to gather, he hasn't really recovered all the burst he had. You sorta need that at DE.....
As for the Vikings sucking, yea we all can see that plain as the nose on our face. But as Vikes fans you gotta keep yellin at the dome and do what you can to help the team. It's Zygi's call on ditching Chilly. I wouldn't be disappointed if he did, but you don't do it during the season.
who do you pick with the #1 draft choice? There are a lot of weak spots, just curious where you would start, not a lot of appealing or dominate college qb's out there in my opinion, let me know what you think.
There is a lot of talent on the Sioux Falls Storm - Thats where I would start with the Queens #1 pick
Queens New York doesn't have a team, sh1t for brains.
