Something that many of you fail to realize is this... The Marlins have had a five-tool player who never quite panned out whom management force-fed us over the course of the last 2 seasons who very closely resembles our newly aquired CF prospect...
There is a good chance that Mr. Maybin will turn into a bust. There is a chance that Andrew Miller also is a bust. For this trade to have been even close to fair value- both Maybin AND Miller will have to become superstar caliber type players in NO MORE THAN 2 years... Many of you were sickened by the Angels' offer, but watch and see what Howie Kendrick becomes.. That guy will have 4 batting titles when he retires The likely scenario is that Maybin becomes a servicable major league player in the same realm as a Juan Encarnacion,(with vision), Bill Hall, type of guy. At best- he is going to end up quite a few steps down from Cabrera in the realm of Jermaine Dye- and at worst, he is Reggie Abercrombie. Andrew Miller has shown NOTHING at the ML level, and having "stuff" doesn't always translate into effectiveness. Anyone remember the last pitcher so coveted by Beinfest for his "stuff"? A guy named Jorge Julio? Beinfest has gotten lucky a few times, but his ability to identify talent is not all that keen, and his track record is not as great as some people like to think it is. Yeah we got Hanley ramirez and Anibal (Anibal is EXTREMELY overrated and is an AVERAGE MLB pitcher at best) but we had to give up a number one starter who is quickly gaining the reputation as an unstoppable force in the postseason as well as an MVP candidate in Mike Lowell! He sure did get us some great pieces in the Castillo trade! Oh, and let's not forget about him brilliantly trading Carlos Delgado to a division rival- basically straight up for Mike Jacobs, who is by far the worst fielding player in MLB at his position, and not much of a hitter at all. The Derek Lee trade sure did work in our favor too! Just look at what Ricky Nolasco and Renyel Pinto have done while Lee is over there in Chicago making an absolute fool of himself! This Cabrera/Willis deal can easily turn into a tragedy. I doubt Maybin will ever come close to the player some of you think he will, and if he ever does- it is 3 or 4 years away from happening- at which point 2/3rds of our roster is gone, and the supporting cast around him is a joke. This team was an abomination WITH Cabrera last year. If anyone thinks Maybin can match what Cabrera did last year offensively, you are a lunatic. And although Dontrelle sucked last season- he was bound to improve under Wiley, while Andrew Miller will likely struggle to stay within range of Dontrelle's awful '07 stats. Miller will walk 120 batters this coming season. The Marlins have a chance to be historically bad. This team- regardless of what cheap and crappy veteran they decide to prop up at 3rd base- will lose 110 games next year. I am not kidding. Does anyone realistically think they will score runs???? And does anyone feel that our pitching staff is stronger?? If you do, you are an insane person who belongs in a cage. Our only strength (our offense) has been diminished, and our already miserable pitching just got weaker... Not to mention that Maybin is said to take some very interesting routes in CF and is very inaccurate with his "decent" arm. Let's not forget about the inevitable injuries of Jeremy Hermida and Mike Jacobs keeping them out of the lineup. Not that Jacobs is anything special- but due to our pathetic bench and non existent minor league system, he is sadly our best option... I do expect the bullpen to be okay.... for the first half of the season at least. Coming into games in the 4th inning every day will eventually take its toll on them... And we do still have a complete moron for a manager...... This will be a very comical season. At least there won't be any rain delays, because they are gonna have to put a tent over the circus at the stadium every night. Maybe they are trying to upstage the other team that plays in Dolphin Stadium in terms of absolute suckiness. Write it down in black magic marker- 52-110.... maybe even worse. |

Wow, exaggerate much?
What a rambling mess. How does Reggie Abercrombie "resemble" Cameron Maybin? Neither is white? |

Make jokes all you want. We are all in for a verrrryyyy long season. At least we will get to watch Cabrera and Willis in the World Series again this year.
Cameron Maybin is too stupid and lacks the baseball instincts to be a good major league player. i don't care how athletic he is. How can we trade a future hall of famer and certified workhorse for a crappy lefthander with no control and a great athlete who has played six games above A ball???? We still have a f***ing hole in center field and now we have a HUGE f***ing hole at third base!!! I thought the whole point of trading Cabrera was to address our needs!!!!!! At least that is what they ATTEMPTED to spin this as! |

Cameron Maybin is too stupid Let me guess: Maybin's not only stupid, but he also has 9 children (and hasn't met a single one) with 9 different women and spends his welfare check on gold grillz. He also won't be able to stay in the MLB for long because he will lose his speed since the only thing on his diet is fried chicken. |
