Rivers calls him the "sorriest corner in the league," and tells him to "act like he's won a game before." He then appears to tell the Patriots players around him that he approves of their behavior ("Y'all are actin' like it"), and then gets a pat on the head from one of them. The Rivers stuff starts at about 1:27 mark.
I also enjoy the coverage from the San Diego news team afterwards, with their "our players are noble and pure, while the Patriots players are gravel-eating neanderthals" act. San Diego network news coverage hasn't been the same since Champ Kind left.
To be honest with you, I don't care about any of this. Maybe New England acted like a bunch of junior high kids who just won their first game, and maybe Rivers and Tomlinson should've kept their mouths shut, but you know what? Football is not a game of class. Hundreds of "classless" things go on in every single NFL game, from trash talk to cut blocks to endzone celebrations to genital-gouging in the quest for a fumble recovery. If you're looking for class in football, you're looking in the wrong place.
I'm more concerned with why the Chargers lost and what they'll do to correct it for next year.

The Chargers played not to lose and the Patriots found a way to win the game. Learn what you did wrong in the game and next time you play the Patriots play more aggressive running game.

Merriman and other players showboat all year, and this will almost always turn and bite. I say "Sore Losers" to LT and the Chargers who took the win for granted.

There's no doubt that the local SanDiego news would support their Chargers, no matter what happened. You would expect the same kind of support for the Patriots from the Boston area.
However, what's surprising are the number of national sports writers and commentators that are jumping on the Patriots' bandwagon and distorting the events after the game and the Patriots history. While LT and Rivers should have just left the field, it was clear that the Patriots players were pushing and taunting LT as he was trying to walk away after verbally reacting to the Patriots taunting. In addition, the Patriots recent history is full of taunting and cheap shots no matter how much national sports writers or commentators try to distort the truth. You have to watch the Patriots games and be honest to acknowledge the late hits administered by Patriots players or the taunting, especially in their Super Bowl victory against the Eagles.

The Chargers went into this game expecting to go to the Superbowl not even looking at playing Indy the had a parade already planned so what do you expect a bunch of whinning crybabies... I've never seen anything so Pathetic.
I am a diehard Pats fan butI went into this game not knowing who was going to win,I wasn't going to be crushed if they lost, I actually liked the Chargers before Sundays game, now they just look like a bunch of whiney losers..
how do you expect the Chargers to act, they actually look like the classless losers...

This is classless, sure, but if they are going to argue the fact on the field, they are just a sorry group of people who are pissed because they lost, and philip rivers is saying "they act like the won their first game." Well, at least the patriots have won a playoff game before, when's the last (and only) time the chargers made it? back when the versed steve young, and had their buts handed to them...that's when. If he is going to say anything, win a post-season game first.

The following dissertation is for the "uneducated" boston fans regarding civil matters in large cities:
Your thinking that "the Chargers were so certain of victories over the pats and the colts that they already scheduled their super bowl parade" (or words to that effect appeared in the local boston newspapers).
The Chargers were contacted by the San Diego Police Department (who would have to be in charge of such an event.....assuming it were to occur) to work up a possible schedule of a parade event and any pertinent route or other information needed to schedule officers and re-routing of traffic.....such a meeting is a matter of routine throughout any major city and if you Pats fans were to check with your own police department and the inner offices of the Patriots football team you would find that such a meeting has occurred in your fair city as well. It is like the printing up of "playoff tickets" happens in November of each season for any team that is "close" to being in the said playoffs/championship games.....would you also say that it was "arrogant" of all of the NFL teams to have, at the direction of the NFL, these ticket orders placed?
Wake up and smell the coffee folks. The Chargers and their fans were not dissing the patriots team or fans by the above listed events......Prudent is a better term.......!!!!
Now get over your bad selves and start acting (like LT and our #17 said after the game) "like you've been here before"!

Give me a break!! Football is played with such intensity and emotion that spontaneous celebration (for everything, getting a first down, sacking the QB, scoring) is a natural and expected response. To expect these guys to bottle it up while on the field, and wait until you get in the locker room to celebrate is unrealistic and ridiculous. (Let's see you run that lottery scratcher, win $ 10,000, but wait until you are back in the confines of your home to celebrate) Even IF the celebrating of only SOME of the Pats was inappropriate,..LT and Rivers engaged in equally unprofessional and innapropriate behaviors. Like most,..in trying to make their point, they engage in the very behaviors they condemn (reference bombing abortion clinics,..in the name of pro-life). Just as I can overlook their heat of the moment (and sore losing) behaviors,..one should also overlook the Patriots heat of the moment celebrating. Besides,..we don't know what gets said between people on the field, between or during plays. Maybe some trash was talked. Maybe the celebrating was justified. Next time win the game and you won't have to endure this LT and Rivers!! Hobbs may be the sorriest corner in the league, who knows. But he is still playing for a Super Bowl and has the rings that LT and Rivers coveted for themselves!! Would Michael Jordan whine about an opponent showing him up, or would he go out and torch them the next time? Classless display by Rivers and LT. Far overshadows anything the Pats players may have done while spontaneously celebrating their win.

P.S. New England never has to ACT like they've been there before. They HAVE!!! San Diego can spend another off season only imagining it!! They (Pats) may or may not be classy. May or may not be nice. But you still have to get by them to play in a Super Bowl. We Bengal fans loathe Pittsburgh, feel they are nothing but a bunch of cheap hooligans. But there is no denying that ya still gots to line up and beat them. Good, bad,..or ugly!

What does that say about Rivers,...losing to a team and being shut down by a secondary that has the worst corner in the league? Why couldn't he capitalize and take advantage of this worst corner? Hmm...

LT sure lost some of that claaassss after their loss to the Patriots. Sounded like a baby. LT is a great player but he is young. It was not smart to start problems for the future.

Maybe all of this "fallout" will prompt the rules committee to stop the dancing all together. Big fines and 30 yard penalties would help everyone get back to the game.

I find it amusing that the team who was penalized for multiple fouls for headbutting and uneccesary roughness (One of which allowed New England to keep a touchdown drive alive) are the ones pointing fingers about the other team being 'classless'. At least the Patriots waited until after they won to act like jackasses.

Yes, a couple of Patriots mocked the Charger steroid cheat's obnoxious victory dance, and the Pats are "classless"??
Maybe they should have mimicked Charger Foley taking 3 bullets from a cop he was trying to kill... maybe Tomlinson would have liked that more...
That team roster reads like a laundry list of what's wrong with pro sports... DUIs, assaulting police officers, getting busted for steroids... ALL this year alone...
Now they're chokers too.
1.LB Shaun Phillips-Obstructing a police officer in April
2. LB Steve Foley-A&B on a police officer, April
3. Foley again, traffic stop in Sept
4. S Terrence Kiel-Shipping codeine-based cough syrup to Texas, in Sept.
5. CB Markus Curry-Domestic violence, Oct.
6. CB Cletis Gordon-DUI in Nov.
7. Krause DUI in Dec
The defense is led by Merriman, a linebacker who was suspended four games this season because he tested positive for steroids.
“We’re the ones who’ve gotten in all the trouble,” said Luis Castillo, a defensive end who tested positive for steroids at the N.F.L. scouting combine in 2005. “Offensive guys are usually very cool-tempered. We’re sometimes more fiery, and it can hurt us.”
