Crowder goes on IR
The Dolphins officially shut down linebacker Channing Crowder for the season on Saturday, placing him on Injured Reserve with a right knee injury. Taking his place on the roster is third quarterback Casey Bramlet.
Crowder, a third-year player out of Florida, had not played the last two weeks with an undisclosed knee injury, and had arthroscopic surgery Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala. Crowder, normally the team’s weakside linebacker, played in the middle for most of the season in place of the injured Zach Thomas. Crowder played in 11 games this year and finishes his season with a team-high 78 tackles, 19 more than anyone else.
This was the first season Crowder didn’t play all 16 games, and he becomes the 12th Dolphins player to hit the IR this season. Derrick Pope, Donnie Spragan and Ed Miles will likely play the last two games in Crowder’s place.
Bramlet, a 2004 seventh-round draft choice for Cincinnati, joined the Dolphins midseason after being waived by the Falcons in September. He holds career records for passing yards (9,864) and completions (767) at the University of Wyoming.

Quentin Moses, Rod Wright, Derrick Pope, Jason Allen and Travis Daniels have to step up and carry the day for the defense and Casey Bramlet gets to come in off the practice squad and off the bench to lead a late surge and the Dolphins beat the Pats. What a story! The Dolphins have nothing to lose and the Pats have all the pressure.
