Balanced scoring lifts Stanford

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Lawrence Hill had 13 points, and Brook Lopez had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 23 Stanford to a 66-46 victory over Oregon State on Thursday night.
Anthony Goods added 12 points for the Cardinal (13-2, 2-1 Pac-10), which has beaten the Beavers in 16 of the last 17 meetings.
Freshman Omari Johnson had 11 points and eight rebounds, but was just 4 of 14 from the field for the Beavers (6-9, 0-3), who had a season-low point total and shot 30.4 percent.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Beavers.
● No. 4 Washington State 73, USC 58: In Los Angeles, Davin Harmeling scored a season-high 19 points, Aron Baynes had 18 and nine rebounds, and Washington State beat USC to give the unbeaten Cougars their best start in 91 years.
Taylor Rochestie added 12 points and seven assists, and Derrick Low had 10 points and five assists for the Cougars (14-0, 2-0), who beat USC for just the 12th time in 53 road games.
WSU completes its visit to Los Angeles on Saturday at Pauley Pavilion against No. 5 UCLA (15-1, 3-0) in the sixth-ever Pac-10 game matching teams ranked in the top five. The Cougars have won just once in 50 road games against the Bruins.
WSU, the highest-ranked team in the Pac-10 for the first time, has not won a conference championship since 1941. The Cougars are off to their best start since the 1916-17 team won its first 15 games.
● No. 5 UCLA 69, Washington 55: In Los Angeles, Russell Westbrook scored 18 points, and UCLA shot better than 52 percent from the field in its win over the Huskies.
UCLA (15-1, 3-0 Pac-10) got 17 points from Luc Richard Mbah a Moute in winning its eighth straight game.
Jon Brockman had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies (9-6, 0-2), who lost to a ranked opponent for the fifth time this season. They shot 42 percent from the field in falling to 3-42 at Pauley Pavilion since it opened in 1965.
UCLA point guard Darren Collison left the game with 18:03 to play, clutching his left hip and grimacing. He did not return and was diagnosed with a hip contusion.
● Oregon 79, California 70: In Eugene, Ore., Malik Hairston and Bryce Taylor scored 20 points apiece to lead Oregon.
Maarty Leunen added 18 points and 11 rebounds for his Pac-10-leading 10th double-double of the season. The Ducks (11-4, 2-1 Pac-10) have now won back-to-back games for the first time since early December.
Ryan Anderson, the Pac-10's leading scorer, scored 22, and Patrick Christopher added 21 for the Bears (10-4, 1-2), who were playing their first road game since Dec. 9.
Oregon (83.4) and Cal (80.5) entered as the top scoring teams in the Pac-10, but both struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the first half.

● No. 14 Butler 74, Wisconsin-Green Bay 65: In Indianapolis, Matt Howard had 22 points and nine rebounds, and Butler beat Wisconsin-Green Bay for its seventh straight win.
Mike Green scored 18 points, A.J. Graves added 13, and Willie Veasley had seven and a career-high 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (15-1, 4-1 Horizon League), who tied the 2002-03 team for the best start in school history.
● No. 21 Wisconsin 70, Illinois 60: In Madison, Wis., Trevon Hughes scored 22 points, and Brian Butch added 16 as Wisconsin handed the Illini their first four-game losing streak under coach Bruce Weber.
Calvin Brock and Trent Meacham both had 14 points for Illinois. Meacham was 4 of 5 from behind the three-point arc, and Illinois was 6 of 10.

● Saint Louis University set a modern Division I record for fewest points in a game Thursday night when it lost to host George Washington 49-20.
The Billikens (9-6) missed 23 consecutive shots and finished 7 for 48 from the field, including 1 for 19 from three-point range.
The previous low since the shot clock was introduced in 1985-86 was 21 by Georgia Southern in a 40-point loss to Coastal Carolina in 1997. It was matched by Princeton in a 20-point loss to Monmouth in 2005.
The fewest points by a Division I team was set by Arkansas State in a 75-6 loss to Kentucky in 1945. It was matched by Temple in an 11-6 loss to Tennessee in 1973.
