ESPN defends Chris Berman

"The off-air videos are now nearly a decade old and do not reflect his typical workplace demeanor, his relationships with co-workers, nor the contributions he has made to ESPN over many years. Chris has a tremendous connection with sports fans and his body of work should not be judged by a few minutes of unguarded language uttered years ago. We aren't excusing the language used and will be emphasizing to our workforce the importance of using appropriate language in the workplace."

The guy is just s freaking pig ! The multiple VIDEOS !!!!! says it all

The guy IS a pig. Look at this picture I found of him playing the air boobies on live TV.

He's sweating blue cheese in that picture.

Note Alfalfa in the background, all grown up.

Funny

LOL, nice find I didnt even see the guy behind him.

Stay classy Boomer

Dana Jacobsen?

ESPN is a joke -- when will someone create a competing network and bring them down?

Probably never. ESPN and ABC have Disney money backing them. Do you have any idea how rich and powerful that is? They carry the NBA, MLB, NFL Monday Night Football, College Hoops, College Football, PTI, the pop-culture monster known as SportsCenter, etc. Not to mention ESPN 360, ESPN 2, ESPNEWS, ESPN GamePlan, etc.

Should I go on? FOX Sports Net is regionalized, and hasn't really done anything to take viewers away. Versus? Please. I don't even know where to find it. Furthermore, ESPN, as a brand, would have nearly a 30 year head start on any upstart network that comes up. Get used to ESPN. They're not going anywhere anytime soon.

I'm not a huge ESPN fan either. They are front and center on the "me first" attitude that exists among many pro athletes today. This is a network that has a "he got JACKED UP!" segment in the same program where they feign sorrow for the Buffalo Bills player that nearly died last year. SportsCenter anchors (some of them) genuinely believe that people watch the show for them. They don't.

Oh, well.

ESPN is a symptom of big corporation complacency. It won't be too long until they turn into the new MTV.

ESPN used to be cool..similarly to MTV. Once upon a time before it became a huge corporate conglomerate, and had to sacrifice originality for a monopoly of a pretend sports news station

W/E, does ESPN really need to apologize for this? It's not like it's their fault. Yeah, Chris Berman might have gone off a few times, but he's had a pretty illustrious career as a broadcaster.

Getting too big of an ego. He thinks he's above the network. It's not ESPN's fault the guy can't stay off of codeine.

I'll tell you what, do you remember when MNF halftime was broadcast from the ESPN Zone in Baltimore, I had tickets sitting a few chairs away from Chris when he broadcasted. He and Frank Gifford came out before the show and stayed after the show to talk one on one with everyone who had questions. I talked to Boomer for a few...great guy down to earth. He's a victim of his own success. He's been a staple of sports for so long that I think people are sick of him or want to bring the castle down. I liked him. In Philly too many people giving him crap on pregame show that was just not warranted....drunks trying to be funny

Yes, I remember those days. Does seem like he's changed a lot since then. He's not a total chump, but I think his ego has just gotten too big. I can tell you, there are a lot worse commentators out there than him though.

y is always so greasy n sweaty lookin??? fat slob

So he curses when the cameras are off, well supposed to be off, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure he's one of hundreds who do. Those videos are funny, not scandalous.

The sports Rush Limbaugh. Maybe they can trade prescriptions.

nail on the head! they share so many of the same traits

Chris Berman is the best sports broadcaster on ESPN, what he says off the air shouldn't really matter.hell I curse people out all the time the majority of people do.

best on espn eh? that aint sayin much......network filled with a bunch of egomaniacs who dont know what their talkin bout
