In Loving Memory of Dr. Jerry Buss 1933-2013
Laker Nation got the shocking news last Monday when Dr. Jerry Buss past away due to Kidney Failure at age 80. He died at about 6:00 AM. He made a big bold purchase the L.A Lakers and the NHL L.A. Kings in 1979. The big deal was worth 67.5 million dollars. He owned the Lakers and they won a total of 10 NBA Championships under Jerry Buss. He and the great Magic Johnson inspired "Showtime" in L.A. back in the 1980's in order to make Basketball games more fun and entertaining. He passed over part of the ownership to his son Jim Buss when he he was in the Hospital for months due to Cancer and Kidney failure. Jerry Buss sadly did not attend a single game with the Lakers in the current 2012-2013 NBA Season due to health concerns and would watch them at his home on TV. On his birthday on January 27th earlier this year he got to see the Lakers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-96 in an upset. NBA Commissioner David Stern was very shocked and sad by the news. "The NBA has lost a visionary owner whose influence on our league is incalculable and will be felt for decades to come and Jerry Buss will be missed". The funeral for Jerry Buss will be held on Thursday in L.A. You guys may not know this but I am a big Laker fan and they are my favorite NBA team. I was shocked and was very sad when I heard the news. I will always remember just hearing the news while watching my favorite TV show, ESPN SportsCenter. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Buss family. RIP Dr. Jerry Buss.
