It's that time of year again. The Super Bowl. This year's Super Bowl should be great. John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens take on Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers. It will be the first time two head coaching brothers coach against each other in the Super Bowl. And Ray Lewis playing his final game of his career. For this years Super Bowl I will break down position by position and see who has the edge. Then make my own prediction. Here we go.
Quarter Back: This position is a toss up. You have 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick who can run for touchdowns and can pass. You have Joe Flacco who could run but is not as fast as Kaepernick but can still run. And Joe can throw for sure. He is probably the best down field thrower in the league and can put the ball where in needs to be. He has shown us in these playoffs that he is as clutch of a QB as they come and has been great. Kaepernick has shown us that a 17-0 lead on his team in the 2nd quarter is not enough to hold him down. He is as clutch of a QB as they come as well. I am going to give the very slight edge to Joe Flacco. Flacco is tall and very tough in the pocket and is a great down the field thrower. He also has more receiving options than Kaepernick does. But remember, it is not a huge advantage over Kaepernick. The edge: Baltimore
Running Back: This match up at running back is also close as well. Frank Gore for San Francisco is a very big running back and can still run fast in key situations. He has 3 touchdowns and no turnover's in the playoffs so far this year. Ray Rice for Baltimore is very fast and tough and can run for lots of yards. He has 3 touchdowns not 2 fumbles in the playoffs so far this year. I am still going to give the advantage to Ray Rice. He is faster and is still young. He should be able to get at least one touchdown tomorrow. As long as he can get that touchdown and not fumble the football he should be fine and have a big game. The Edge: Baltimore.
Wide Receiver: Both teams have good receivers. The Ravens have Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones who both are very fast and athletic. They can both make big plays and get clutch touchdowns in very key moments of the game. Boldin still can make big plays and still has speed for his age. The 49ers have good Receivers as well. Randy Moss has a lot to prove in this big game. Especially saying earlier this week that he is one of the best Wide Receiver's of all time. Which I personally don't agree with that statement he made. Michael Crabtree is fast and has been great in the playoffs so far this year. Hopefully he is behind the sexual assault allegations and is focused for tomorrow's big game. I think the edge will still go to Baltimore's receivers. More athletic and faster than the Niners. The Niners will miss Mario Manningham, who is out with a torn ACL he suffered last December. The Edge: Baltimore.
Tight End: This is an obvious advantage for San Fran's Tight End in Vernon Davis. Davis is an All-Pro and can make big plays for touchdowns. I like Dennis Pitta but is a bit inconsistent. One game he has a lot of catches for a lot of yards and a touchdown or two and the next game he won't even catch a pass. I think Pitta should have a decent game and maybe a touchdown. But for sure, Davis has the edge and should have a better game than Pitta. The Edge: San Francisco
Offensive Line: The Ravens Offensive Line has been very good through out this years playoffs and have kept Joe Flacco very comfortable in the pocket. The 49ers Offensive Line has been very good as well. I will still give the edge to the Ravens O-Line. With Marshall Yanda and Bobbie Williams, the Ravens should protect Flacco very well and create holes for Ray Rice to work with. The Edge: Baltimore.
Defense: The ravens have a good defensive line and have a good secondary in Ed Reed. The Niners have a good defense as well and can make big plays and cause turnovers. But the one thing San Francisco can't do is get and sack the QB. Justin Smith could not get to Matt Ryan at all and let Matt throw for 396 yards with 3 touchdowns. The Baltimore defense has more pride and motivation with this game being the last career game for Ray Lewis. They will be able to have a few sacks on Colin Kaepernick. He for sure want to end his legendary career with a Super Bowl Ring and a post game dance. The Edge: Baltimore
Head Coach: The fact that the two Head Coaches for both teams are brothers really makes this a great and interesting game. Both John and Jim Harbaugh are great head coaches and take the game very very seriously. I give a very slight edge to John because he has the one and possibly only win over little brother Jim on Thanksgiving night in 2011. The Edge: Baltimore
Prediction: I am going to take the Baltimore Ravens over the San Francisco 49ers. The have a better running back in Ray Rice and more pride and motivation to win this big game. Baltimore wins 26-16 as Joe Flacco throws two touchdown passes with only one Interception and is Super Bowl 47 MVP. Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday everybody.
