The media firestorm surrounding the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal at Penn State is raging uncontrolled. Joe Paterno’s lame retirement announcement only made it worse.
Check out what’s happening on Twitter:
Tucker Max: “Hey Joe Paterno: When TUCKER MAX is telling you that your moral choices are clearly wrong, you have really, REALLY, (screwed) up.”
Jason Whitlock: “Paterno: ‘I will spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to help this University.’ Hey, JoePa, what about helping the victims?”
Jason Whitlock: “JoePa's determination to help the University is why he didn't think to really help a child raped in his locker room. He doesn't get it!”
Jalen Rose: “How can Joe Paterno be allowed to coach the rest of the season when players are suspended for trading autographs?”
Jason McIntyre: “What a middle finger from Joe Paterno to the board of trustees. Having been shown up, will the BOT respond by firing him or do they fear him?”
Jim Rome: “Board of Trustees? Board of smus-tees! I tell them what I'm going to do, they don't tell me what I'll do. You know who the hell I am?!”
Darren Rovell: “Paterno says he wants to 'finish the season with dignity and determination.' Every single statement sounds shallow.”
Clay Travis: “If Paterno had given a kid a car, he'd be fired immediately. Help cover-up kid rape? He's fine. WTF?”
Steve Rosenbloom: “What part of ‘now’ doesn't JoePa understand? Penn State, same question.”
Darren Rovell: “Have to think a good lawyer would never allow JoePa to say "With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.”
Sports by Brooks: “If Paterno coaches Saturday, there should be moment of silence for child rape victims in every CFB stadium in America. Except Beaver Stadium.”
Stewart Mandel: “Joe Paterno failed to do more, but so did a lot of other people. Joe is stepping down. What about you, Graham Spanier?”
Jim Rome: “Where's Spanier? Anyone there want to step in and let that old guy know what time it is? LIke, whatever you decide, Joe, just let us know.”
Pat Forde: “Sensing a massive disconnect between the feelings of Penn State students and fans here vs. the rest of the nation when it comes to Paterno.”
Darren Rovell: “Going out on his own terms allows Paterno to collect pension & benefits. Being fired obviously doesn't.”
CRUMMY EFFORT OF THE NIGHT
In other college football news, the Toledo and Western Michigan defenses allowed 129 points between them in Tuesday night’s shootout. Again, do they play football in the MAC or is this a mutant form of basketball?
When did Mike Tyson learn to do such an awesome Herman Cain impersonation?
Is it really that easy for Ken Hitchcock to arouse the slumbering Blues?
Will the media ever let up its assault on Happy Valley?
FROM THE BLOG-O-SPEAR
Sports by Brooks has been on the Penn State University child abuse scandal like stink on manure:
Sandusky was released soon after his arrest and was recently seen in an ABC News report at his State College home, which is located approximately 1,000 feet from an elementary school.
Is it unreasonable to think that State College law enforcement has an obligation to inform parents of children at Lemont Elementary School that a serial child rapist is living next door - and is free to come and go as he pleases?
