Let's Hear it for the Defense
I get asked about our offense all the time. I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the play of our defense.
They have been outstanding. I've had the distinction of watching them on film having to play them twice a year for the last decade. While there has been a good deal of roster change, there are a number of guys that I have gone up against on the football field. Believe me, they are a tough group and right now they are playing the best football I have seen from them, ever.
It starts with the leadership from London Fletcher. He's played football at a high level for so many years; there is nothing he can't do on the football field.
I won't name everybody but special mention should be given to LaRon Landry and Brian Orakpo. I know that coaches and players throughout the league who watch film know who these guys are. They might not be household names across the country yet but they should be. If they continue at this pace, they should stamp their tickets to the Pro Bowl this season.

So glad you pulled it out in OT. Gotta start quicker though. Getting tougher down the road but still number 1!!!!! GO SKINS AND GO 5
-
Great playing and great having you here in Washington. I know this is not the place for it, but can you ask whoever is helping you look for a new home contact me? I have a beautiful place in Chris Cooley's neighborhood and I just want to let you know about it. eandys@gmail.com. Thanks and keep on winning. Andy Stevens
-
Not the best game but, it is a win. Keep doing what you do Don. Your fans love you for it and wishes you only the best. Thanks for sharing your talent with me.
-
I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to see you in Chicago this past weekend. I had a great seat and was able to take plenty of pictures. Thank you again.
-
Donnie, I was not able to watch the game in its entirety against Detroit. However, I was able to watch the highlights and your press conference. Again, I am impressed with the confidence that you have in your team and yourself. You are a true leader. I read something last night that I would like to share with you. -"We are what we repeatly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit." You are an EXCELLENT quarterback. However, what makes you the football player that you are is not completely based on your physical ability. Your character is also what makes who you are. And character is not revealed by occasional deeds or misdeeds, but by habitual actions.
-
I thought Shanahan was a good coach......apparantly I was wrong. To bench the best chance we had to win the game and put in Grossman......come on man.....Sorry you lost the game but so glad it blew up in Shanahan's face.......and as for you not knowing the 2 minute drill.......what the hell is he smoking????
-
How you like #5 now D.C.? So glad hes not in Philly nemore. He wuill be goin to AZ at the end of the yr. Thats why we traded him in the division,we knew with him the Skins got no shot.HAHA
-
He is the worst QB in a 2minute offense I saw it for 10 yrs. Shanahan was right, what you think you know more than coach?LOL Thats why he is Coach and you are I dunno office worker or salesman prolly.
-
Maybe you should take an English class. Learn how to spell and all that.
As for 5......I like him just fine. I liked him in Philly, too. That's why I went to the Skins as a fan when they traded him......
-
Congratulations on your contract......
When are the Skins going to start to win????
Last night was awful. and I know you are better than that. Shanahan has to get some talant around you. You asked for 11 years to get some talant around you in Philly. They finally get it and trade you.....Now, DC is in the same boat.....C'mon Shanahan.......get 5 some people who can actually play!!! -
Donnie, most people are more critical now because of last night's loss. Please, do not allow them to make you feel that you are less than the best. I read something only a few minutes ago that I would like to share with you and your teammates-"For the Lord your God has blessed you and all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness." Deut. 2:7 The team will emerge from this stronger and better, no doubt : )

I want to Donovan moved Vikings.
I want to McNabb release "Dead"skins! -

I think the Vikings will be out of the has been quarterback business once this season is over.

Happy Birthday Donovan!

I read something a few days ago that made me think of you. Its called "Go-Getter."-Within your life, it is often the case. That you're the one chosen to lead the race. You have a special way of taking control, of moving ahead and achieving your goal. Whatever you seek, you shall easily earn. With happiness waiting at every turn:) Happy Birthday, Donnie!
-
Donnie, I watched your press conference after the game yesterday. And I couldn't help but to notice your dismay. Ironically enough, before watching the press conference, I read something that I would like to share with you-Onward and upward your course plan today,Seeking new heights as you walk Jesus' way; Heed not past failures, but strive for the prize, Aiming for goals fit for His holy eyes. Be encouraged..You're still the best: )
-
I was unable to watch the game in New York. My instincts tell me that you, the rest of the team, and redskins fans could use some encouragement. I read this a few days ago: "We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." 2Corinthians 4:8-9 Redskins Rule!: )

I am always impressed with the dignity, charm, grace and integrity you display when approached by the media to respond to their inquiries. When your options are to have a behavior or maintain a high level of professionalism, you always opt to take the high road and remain the true professional that you are. I have only followed your career since September 2010 and I call myself your number one rookie fan. I am indeed proud of you and what you have accomplished with this team. While all the members of the team are important, no member of the TEAM can accomplish the tasks at hand alone. I have seen, in this short time, improvement with this team in spite of the missed opportunities on the field. No QB is good without the players around him creating the dynamics for him to work. You do an excellent job and again I am proud of the job you do.
-
I am disappointed at the recent decision of the coaching staff. The timing of this move by the coaching staff is ridiculous.
-
Donnie,Happy Holidays! Rex did a fantastic job this past Sunday against Dallas. However, I couldn't help but to be impressed with the way that you've handled this situation. Your ability to step aside and allow other players to showcase their God-given talents to the world is one of the many reasons that you are my favorite :) I read something that I would like to share with you and your fans.-"And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Matt. 23:12 and Isaiah 58:8 : )

Hey Donovan,
As a 51 year old long time Eagles fan, I just want to say that after all the junk you have had to deal with in Washington, I am amazed at the class and distinction you bring to the profession. With all the stuff going on in the league, you rise above it all and always handle tough situations with respect, courage, and honor. You truly exemplify what I want my son and daughter to see in atheletes. An appreciation of their position and a respect and dignity that often has to rise above the childish behaviors of others. You truly are a legend in the game Donovan and I appreciate the many years of excellent play you brought to the Eagles and most of all the off-field personality and quality of your character. I wish you well wherever you land in the NFL because I am sure you will be playing again as the starter somewhere and bringing more exciting football to fans of the game. -
Well, Donnie. The season is over and I must admit that watching the NFL without you playing feels foreign to me because you play the game like you love it. Its obvious that you know the game but knowledge without love is idle prattle. And what are worldly achievements without love? We can be dazzled or even blinded by our achievements, but only accomplishments that are achieved out of love are permanent and eternal. So as fans, players, coaches, trainers, etc., anyone that is intrigued by this awesome sport, let us be reminded that no high resolve, no genius, no organization, however useful or important, can substitute for the love that God puts into the hearts of His people : )
-
Donovan, you have fans WORLDWIDE that love and appreciate you. Please don't forget about us, let us hear from you more often on the blog. These are trying times for you, we understand. But you encourage us with your strength and perserverence. Come back strong for us this season proving the determination and resilency I know is within you. Texas loves you, son! Wherever you go, I'm setting aside money for a jersey! Its us til the end! Much love to you and your family!
-
Happy Father's Day,Donnie. There are a lot of opinions floating around regarding your career. So I would like to share this with you: There's nothing to fear-for you are one of the best, and among the strongest, too. You can win in every battle or test; For there's no one just like you. There's only one you in the world today; So nobody else you see, Can do your work in as fine a way; You're the only you there'll be! So face the world, and all life is yours to conquer and love and live; And you'll find the joy that endures in just the measure you give. There's nothing too good for you to possess, Nor heights where you cannot go; Your power is more than belief or guess-It's something you have to know. There's nothing to fear-you can and you will, for you are the invincible you. So set your foot on the highest hill-There's nothing you can't do : )
-
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DONOVAN! I hope you had a remarkable birthday this weekend! Just know that our prayers are with you and your family! -

-
Hi,Donnie. I was browsing ESPN's website one day and found an article written about you. The writer elaborated on her opinion about the way you've been handling public scrutiny. So when I read this, I immediately thought of you and could not wait to share it:The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with singing."I will gather those who sorrow over the appointed assembly, who are among you, to whom its reproach is a burden. Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame, and gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land where they were put to shame. At that time I will bring you back, even at the time I gather you; for I will give you fame and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes," says the Lord. Zephaniah 3:17-20
-
It's nice to hear that you are comfortable with your new team. I must admit that I am excited about the move and a little anxious to watch you play. I read something this morning that I would like to share with you:)"The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore." Psalm 121:7-8
-
Donnie, I just wanted to congratulate you on your 1st win as a Minnesota Viking. I wasn't able to watch the entire game. But I watched some highlights and was reminded of why you are my favorite professional quarterback. It seems that no matter what team you play for, your ability to adapt to change is seamless. And I will attribute that to our Creator. I believe that no matter what a situation may look like on the surface, the ideal state of the soul is its freedom to fly up in resurrection. I recognize that spirit in you and I wish you well this season : )
-
Donnie, watching your press conference after yesterday's game, I had to respond to your embarrassment. I hope that you realize that you are your biggest critic. And as one of the many people who think that you are one of the best to play the game, I must say that you are great. From the way you play the game to way you talk about the game. Win or lose. YOU ARE GREAT! I read this today and it reminded me of you. "Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:3-5
-
Donnie, after careful consideration, I have decided that it would be best for the best(you)that this be my last post on your blog. I realize, now more than ever, that you don't need any distractions. But I will leave you with these words by one of the wisest men ever created-Solomon."Here is what I have seen: it is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor-this is the gift of God. For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart. An inheritance gained hasitly at the beginning will not be blessed at the end."Eccles.5:18-20&Pslm 20:21
-
Cmon Donovan I have faith in you to get the vikings on a winning track, spread that ball around. I have high hopes were gonna beat the lions. Cmon we can do it
-
Donnie, I know that I said that it would be best for me not to post on your blog anymore. However, after more consideration, I carefully concluded that I am a child of God. And it is part of my purpose to honor His name by allowing Him to love you through me. This brings me a joy that is like nothing else I've ever experienced. So again, I am impressed with the way that you have responded to the changes that have been made on your team. I read something this morning and it immediately reminded me of you. "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide." Psalm 37:23,24,31 :)
-
Yesterday, I was able, for the 1st time this season, to watch a Minnesota Vikings game up until the beginning of the 4th. What I saw was a team with the potential to win it all. So I would like to share this with the team, the coaches and the fans."Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls-Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; he will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills. The Chief Musician. With my stringed instrument." Habakkuk 3:17-18:) Hey, Donnie speaking of stringed instruments, if I recall correctly, you play a mean "air" guitar :) Play on, guitar hero! ;0)
-
Congratulations,Vikings! What a triumphant win.Donnie, I wanted to share this with you because when I read it this morning I thought of you and the team."In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory." 1Peter 1:6-8 : )
