Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli tried to move young scorer Tyler Seguin at the NHL for one of the top picks.
That didn’t work, but he kept plugging away. As first reported by TSN's Darren Dreger. Chiarelli is close to a deal that would send Seguin to the Dallas Stars for talented winger Loui Eriksson.
The Bruins also sent center Rich Peverley and defenseman Ryan Button to Dallas and got back youngsters Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser in the deal.
The Stars want to play Jamie Benn on the wing, so that team has been shopping aggressively for centers. Seguin and Peverley fill that need.
Boston developed reservations about paying Seguin for the long haul after his sporadic efforts during the playoffs. The Bruins would get out from under that deal and land a word-class talent in the process.
