Did the selection committee even watch NHL games this season?
The idea was to build a team mixes skill with grit. The committee picked some players with past international success over players performing better this season.
That plan paid off . . . for a while. The Americans looked great in pool play. Then the real games began and they didn’t look so good.
Then adversity came and the team folded. Team USA imploded against Finland, succumbing to its collective frustration. That “performance” will stick with the guilty players for a long, long time.
