Won My First Match in Melbourne
Hey guys, thanks for the tip from one of the comments about using capital letters. I really didn't think it made a difference since I assumed most people could figure out that I just write that way on the computer when I'm writing casually so I can type more quickly. But I guess I'll try to be more formal from now on here on Yardbarker. I won my first match down here in Melbourne against Frank Dancevic. It was a straight set match, but I felt like it was high quality tennis. Especially the third set where Frank had some chances and I had to get out of trouble a few times. Now I play Sebastian De Chaunac of France tonight. He's a player that has a lot of confidence right now and nothing to lose. So it could be dangerous. I will have to play well again. He won 3 matches to qualify here and a five setter in the first round. I remember him from college tennis when he played at Ole Miss. My brother Thomas actually played him while we were both at school there. I think he beat Sebastian so I will have to try to make the Blakes 2-0 against him. I'm still having a great time down here and the atmosphere for my first match was exciting. It was a night match and I've got another night match today. It makes for a day of relaxing before the match and then a great crowd usually at night. So hopefully tonight will be more of the same. Take care guys, and I hope you like the more formal version with correct capitalization and punctuation.

nooooooo James, I loved the lowercase writing!!! :(
anyway congrats on the win, and good luck tonight! -
Great match against Dancevic James. It's crazy over here because I have to wake up at like 4 in the morning to watch you play but it's a sacrifice I am willing to take. Good luck tonight and I'll be up to watch it before school. Also I like the new line, but are you going to wear the sleeveless for any matches? Good luck again!!!
-
Congrats, James!!! It was amazing match! Hope today we'll have the same! Good luck!!!
You looks great in new fila clothing! -
keep it up big man!!!! fila fits you man and much continued success. :0)
-
haha I don't mind the lowercase either, whatever is more comfortable for ya ;)
kick some butt! Can't wait to see you in San Jose, CA -
capital letters are overrated.
-
Good luck, James. I know you'll do great! Stay hydrated!
-
Great win again James. Great to see you out of there in straights once again. You looked sharp today saving all 4 break points and 20 of 30 at net. Again great win and keep it up.
-
Capital shmapital! Nobody cares what case or font you use - just give us Blake fans your best tennis! We all know that the JB A game can beat anybody down there.
-
Actually, I like the caps and better punctuation....but I'll take it however you want to write it! It's just great to hear from you! And most important, keep up the great tennis! When your backhand is smokin', your confidence seems to go up, and it should! You can beat ANYBODY there. Just give it your best; that's all we ask. We're pulling for you, James!

James!!!
1. You Rock.
2. Sorry, I didn't mean to pick on your e.e. cummings style; especially when I know your method of typing is to serve tennis balls at the keyboard to type each letter - and it can be hard to find a volunteer to hold down the "shift" key while you do that! (please thank your brother nicely and remind him that it builds character.) Good thing you have an accurate serve... ;)
3. Keep up the great playing!
4. Did I mention how much you rock? You TOTALLY rock! GO JAMES!!
5. The entire state of CT is cheering for you. Seriously. You can probably hear it from Australia... -
James!!
1. You Rock.
2. Sorry about the persnickety comment on your e.e. cummings-style formatting; I was only kidding. Besides, I know what you mean about saving time – especially when your method of typing involves serving tennis balls at the keyboard to type each letter. It can be hard to find a volunteer to hold down the "shift" key while you do that! (please thank your brother nicely and remind him that it builds character.) Good thing you have an accurate serve… ;)

Oops, sorry about the multiple post! I am having technical issues with my browser I think... How embarrassing!

Hi James,
Great to read from you.
Keep up the good job. I have to say I didn't see your last game against de Chaunac but I heard it was quite good from you.
Some say you were a little bit rushing to finish the match which might be dangerous sometimes.
Anyway now Igor Andreev, strong Russian player, he beat Gulbis who's a great potential so be careful, this game will be rhough.
When you play well you can beat anyone James so stay in the game, this tournament could be for you.
Another JB -
This is my first post here, just found out about the blog and thank you James for taking the time to write. Congrats on the win(s), you will make it far into the draw I'm sure (to the very end we all hope).
On another note, I read that you were a big donor for Obama! Thank you so much for your help; as an organizer [now sadly former organizer] I, and indeed the whole of OFA, can't be grateful enough for those contributions which made our field operations possible. (FYI, I rocked my J Block shirt in my turf) -
Any chances of you being a Surrogate in 2012? I'm just saying....
-
IM SOOOO PROUD OF U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (who cares about capitals lol)
-
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
-
IM SOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
keep rocking it james!! it was awesome watching you come back from love-40 a few times
-
Won your second match too! Two sweet performances. And Gulbis is gone. Looks good for you to meet Tsonga. I'm dying to see that. (I drove from NJ to NC to see you play Tsonga in the Davis Cup and he didn't show up!!)
Anyway, I think you can go all the way. LET'S GO JAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!! -
Enjoying the matches and the interviews. Thanks for making Americans look and sound good. You do us proud.
-
Good luck, James!!! We are all behind you and cheering all the way! Glad you are keeping in touch; we missed hearing from you. You have lots of fans and we will love you no matter what--but we LOVE to see you win!
-
Hey James, what happend in the match against Dancevic?. In the last set you seemed kind of upset.
Wish you the best for the match against Tsonga! -
How wonder full.
-
Tough break against Tsonga James. You played well though and am looking forward to the rest of the season. Good Luck the rest of the way.
-
Losses are disappointing, but when you put it in perspective, and I know you will, you'll realize that you gave it your all. As fans, that's all we ask, and you always deliver. I'm just happy that you're healthy and determined and trying your best. You played well throughout the tournament, showed us some exciting tennis. In my eyes, you're the best, James. I'll be pulling for you all season.

Hopefully by the time you're reading this, you're "over" the Tsonga match. I know it was a tough one and we all really wanted you to win... but the thing is, we JB fans feel like we've got ,something more than your average tennis-fan. We keep loving you, whether you win or lose a match; we even love watching you practice! We love your personality and your smile, your dignity and courage and the way you embrace life. We love your book, and I'll bet I'm not the only one thinking there could be another one cooking in that head of yours... So, you have us all by the heart-strings. Can't wait to see you play again!! -
Hi James, what happened in the match with Tsonga, you didn't seem your normal self, just hoped all is well with you and wish you all happiness as i missed that side of you today. i was soo rooting for you and was really looking forward to a tight match against Tsonga.
i guess you win some and you loss some and it wasn't meant to be today but you are still my guy and am always in your corner.
am off to watch the Dubai tournament and shame you won't be there, any chance of changing your mind. -
Is there some bad blood between you and Tsonga? You're always so gracious at the net even after a loss, but after both matches with him the handshake was very cold. I didn't think anyone but Hewitt got under your skin.
Love you anyway!! I challenge this lady who posted above me who says she's your biggest fan...That don't sit right with me, that just don't sit right. -
No big deal using lower case letters, it just a sign of modesty. Besides, we all know you are an educated man. Love your new look, but still rather see more arms. Even though you did not make it to the semis, you are still a "GREAT" player. Keep up the good work!
-
Hi James. My first here. I had the chanced to watch ur match up with Tsonga. U don't look well on that matched.I can feel it, cause i've seen most of ur games. But it's no big deal You're still the best for me and will remain NO.1 for me. Keep up the good work
-
Hi James!
I know you hear it a million times, but I just want to let you know how well-loved and respected you are as a player AND a person. We're always rooting for you, and you played AWESOME in Australia. :)
Good luck in San Jose! I'm totally looking forward to you getting your next title here! Luv ya! -

-
Sorry, I'm new to this. I didn't mean to post that picture! (blushing!)
And by the way, no one minds whether you type with caps or not! :) -
hey Blake, congrats. I wonder how you did during the rest of the tourn. im doing a project on u for school and need to know ur training diet. i cant seem to find it anywhere so can u write as an entry? that would be awesome if u could. by the way, i really admire you for overcoming scolioses. thats why i chose you out of any sports player in the world. hope this season goes well for you. il be rootin for you
-
James Blake is one of the best tennis players out there, but hes defnietly one of the best people. His book was FANTASTIC! Nobody has had more personal struggle than he has, and he bounces back everytime. If only he had as much confidence in himeself that i have in him, he would be number one in the world. Keep going James, you got it! now BREAK BACK!

I love your book. You are inspirational. I find hope and inspiration through quotes from you that I have read. Roger Federer and you are my favorite tennis players.I think you get too hard on yourself. Maybe I am wrong. Try not to let losses get to you. If you don't, then I would study other players to know how they are playing at the time, be prepared. Keep telling yourself, you can do it. You have lots of talent. You can win many Opens. I hope to see you play, in person in March at Indian Wells. I will be reading your book again for hope and inspiration. Best wishes for 2010 and beyond. You are a great tennis player, and a wonderful person.
