What's good YB family? I hope everyone's been doing well. I apologize for not writing in a little over a week, I've been on the road a bit, and I forgot my password (I know, embarrassing), so I couldn't even get on my page! Either way, I'm back baby and ready for round 3, so lets go! Life's been pretty crazy recently, which is no good, especially because things are supposed to slow down a bit after the season. I just flew back from my buddies wedding out in Denver, which was AWESOME! It was a beautiful service and it was GREAT catching up with all my old teammates. The only strange part about it is that it's crazy to that my friends are getting married! We're 24 years old! I guess it's a part of growing up though, and it's only going to start happening more and more now, so I'd better get used to it. Oh yeah, watching people dance at Wedding receptions is one of the funniest things EVER. Between the 7 year old kid (who was still up at 12am) who was doing the running man like it just came out, to the elderly women getting down to Justin's Sexy Back, I was rolling the majority of the night. I didn't get to watch too much football this weekend which was a bit dissapointing, but I did catch the highlights! That cat from USC's one handed catch was ridiculous, and the return in the Cal game was hot as well, nothing like watching people go to make a tackle and getting shook. On the flip side of that, did anybody see the block in the LSU game last week? I was almost positive that dudes head almost fell off when he got hit, and when he stood up, my man definitely didn't know where he was. I give him credit though, he popped right back up, I may have been down for the count after that hit! Any thoughts on the iphone? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth picking up. The phone's I've got now work pretty well I think, and I'm on my Treo, I can check my e-mail and get on the internet and play music and all that good stuff, so I just can't seem to convince myself that an iphone is neccesary. Any thoughts? They look pretty cool, which may be reason enough to buy one. I'm still undecided though and would LOVE some advice on the topic. Also, I'm trying to plan a vacation somewhere, but can't really figure out where I want to go. Anyone been anywehre good recently? Any place nice this time a year? At some point this fall, I need to get a nice vacation going with my boys, so any suggestions for locations would be great. I just realized some people on here may have never seen a lacrosse game or practice or anything like that, so I wanted to post a video! I'm excited to play in the tournament in Vegas in a few weeks, I'm getting that itch again already! Reading Greg Oden's, Mike Conley, Mark Clayton and all these guys blogs that are about to start their seasons is making me want to play! All the preparation they've put in during the off season, all the excitement and hype leading up to the season, it's awesome! I'm excited to watch all of these great players perform well, and it's making me want to work that much harder to do the same when my time comes around again next spring/summer. I'm still trying to get a Nintendo Wii..I literally check Best Buy four times a week and they get in awkward shipments of like 4, or 7, which clearly sell out in 3 minutes. I get the whole create a demand tactic that Nintendo has got going, but it seems like it's about time to be making shipments of a couple hundred of those puppies, cause I know everybody is looking to grab one, including my father. I'll be sure to post videos of him playing the second we can actually get one! Anyone watch any of these reality shows on MTV? For one reason or another I've been getting into them lately. I can't STAND real world though, not a huge fan of the show. I feel like it's the exact same thing over and over again, but I guess all these show's are in a way, for some reason though I don't like that one. Eh well. What's going on YB family? I hope everybody had a great week. I know mine was amazing being back in Baltimore for the entire week. I got to see my family, clean up around the house a bit, and just relax which was incredible. I guess I would definitely trade it all if it meant my team got to be in the play off's, but there's always next year. Oh yeah, almost forgot, for anyone that lives out in Vegas or close enough to drive there, I am going to be playing in a tournament there on Sept 21-23, and it should have some pretty good competition so come check it out if you've got some time! In lacrosse, one of the unique things about the sport is that there are tournaments held all over the world, where any sponsor can enter a team and more often then not, the best players around are at these tournaments so it's great competition. There are torunaments all over the country (Vail, Ocean City MD, Lake Placid, Hawaii, Portland, Miami, etc..) and there are also tournaments all over Europe as well. Professional guys aren't allowed to play in any tournaments during the summer (which is our season (May-August) because of obvious reasons (can't get hurt during the season playing in tournaments). These tournaments are at the very heart of our sport, and it's a great way for fans to interact with the players.The fan's sit right on the side lines and after the game everyone goes and hangs out together at the bar, or people are grilling on the field, it's really an amazing atmosphere. I love playing in those tournaments and I'm excited to get out to Vegas and get another one going! Speaking of excited, it's football season baby! Yes! And Basketball is right around the corner, fall is by far the best time of year. Living right in downtown Baltimore a few blocks away from M&T bank (Where the Ravens play), there is NOTHING like a sunday morning when the street's are lined with people dressed in purple, everyone just so excited about the game that's about to go down. I literally plan my whole weekend around what time the Ravens game is on Sunday, so I can't wait. As for basketball being around the corner, it's always been my first love so I can't wait to watch this year, especially with all the young talent coming in the league. I've got to pick a team this year I think though. I've always been a player fan. There are like 5 or 6 players that I am a huge fan of and I carefully watch them all season long, but as far as an actual team that I'm loyal to, there hasn't been one since the Bulls in the 90's. I know, lame, I've got to step my game up a bit. I could jump on the Wizards bandwagon like everyone else in Baltimore did with them being the closest team to Balto and Agent 0 playing so well, but I think I'm going to hold off on that for now. I'll pick a team sooner, or later, and I'll be sure to keep you updated. I'm excited to watch Greg Oden and Kevin Durant play this year as well. It was pretty cool to see two young guys in the college game last year completely dominate. They're two of the most talented athletes I've seen in awhile, and both seem like great people and hard workers, so I know they'll do well. Alright, so for the most part, I got some good feed back on the most recent debate between my boys, and I appreciate it. But as usual, we've been arguing again and I need some more feed back. So, two quick questions, for starters, what's the best sitcom ever? I've got my opinion on this one, and I feel very strongly about it, and I'm pretty sure there's not an argument that I can't win about this topic! So, what do you think? Top to bottom BEST sitcom ever. Not funniest. Not most dramatic. Not most realistic. Simply THe BEST sitcom ever. Yup, there should only be one show in your head right now and it should be about a big eared kid from Philly, but I'll get more into my opinion there after I hear some of your thoughts. Secondly, ok, it's hard to ask....I'm gonna go for it...Is Justin Timerlake cool? I'm havin a real serious internal battle these days. I'm a fan, I always have been, and I think the dude is disgustingly talented. I went to a concert of his in VA a few months back and he did EVERYTHING. I'm talking key board, guitar, piano, got on the drums a bit, danced and sung all night....I haven't seen someone entertain like that this Michael (yup, I said it). I'm not putting him on that level, I'm just saying as an entertainer this dude is CRAZY good. So my best friend Bense can't take him seriously because of JT's little stint in the boy band. Say's he's soft, sounds like a girl, almost cried when he got punk'd...All valid arguments I guess, but the there's literally NOTHING he can't do when it comes to music. He went from boy band lead singer, to best friends with Tim, doing songs with Snoop and 50? I'm saying, not too many cats can pull that off. In fact, I'm going to his concert again in LA on Sept 19 right before the Vegas tournament I'm playing in! Yup, I'll say it, i'm a fan, guy's got a lot more talent that most other people in the game right now. What do you think? Well, it may be time for me to roll out of bed and go up to my parents house and play with my niece fo a bit. Actualy...I just checked the weather and it say's it's supposed to be 102 here today, that's absolutely gross, I may not leave my house all day because of it, and I'm now in an awful mood! Watching MTV right now, last question, what's the best song of the summer? I think there have got to be a couple up there. Soldier boy? Umbrella doesn't count because it was played entirely too much and I don't like the music video (though the remix with Chris Brown is hot). Alright, that's it for now. What's good everyone? Well, before I dive in and start tossing my opinions around, I figure It'd be smart to introduce myself since I don't play a mainstream sport. My name is Kyle Harrison, and I play professional Lacrosse for the New Jersey Pride (Major League Lacrosse). I went to Johns Hopkins, graduating in 2005 (as well as scooping up a National Championship that year baby). After graduating, I signed with the oldest and best Lacrosse Manufacturer, STX, and came out with my own equipment and apparel line last year called K18 (K, first letter of name, 18, my number). Last summer, I played in the World Games with team USA in which we came in the heavy favorites, but lost to Canada in the championship game, which wasn't very sweet at all. My season ended about two weeks ago with my squad going 4-8, and clearly not in contention for the playoff's, but we did lose 4 games by 1, 3 of those being in overtime. So we really are right there, we've just got to put it all together. As far as lacrosse goes, it's clearly not as mainstream as the majority of the other athletes writing on here, but it's growing. Just recently are actual "lacrosse players" able to make a living out of the sport. I'll post a few different websites you can check out to play a little catch up with getting to know the sport a bit better. Anyway, I've been on vacation for the past few weeks, so I'm trying to play catch up with everything that's going on in the world at the moment, I've been out of the loop! What do you all make of this whole Vick situation? I'm fairly uneducated about the most recent events, and I'm a HUGE fan of his so I'm not sure which direction I'm leaning. I do know that I wish he and his family luck with whatever direction his life is about to take. Oh yeah, I need your help with something.Me and my boys were sitting on the beach the other day (before the hurricane came and ruined the whole day) and we were in this in depth argument of who is the most dominant athlete in sports right now. We're not talking endorsement deals, or commercials or anything along those lines, we're looking for the BEST and most dominant athlete in sports, period. Some went with Tiger or Roger Federer, some went with Shaq...I'm not sure who I'm going with, it's still up in the air. What do you think? Because of the most dominant athlete argument, the real argument started, which was who is the most dominant super hero. This argument was intense!! I think there are clearly some front runners like Superman and Wolverine, and there are clearly some bottom feeders like Batman (who could be your dad dressed up in a cape, cat has got NO powers!) and Robin (don't even get me started..). My boy Brett Hughes raised a good point though...do Neo (from the Matrix) and Aniken (from Star Wars), get to be involved? Cause if those two are involved, it changes everything. That's like throwing Jordan and Magic in a pick up game with your buddies. I'm still undecided here as well, but I'm abotu 90% sure I know who my guy is. I know these aren't the deepest arguments ever, but it's been nice to relax on the beach for the past few days and not have a care in the world after a hard season. Oh yeah I almost forgot, my boy brought a Nintendo Wii with him to the beach and that thing might just be the best thing invented since Dulce de Leche ice cream. I've never had more fun playing a video game in my life, and the site of my father swinging like he's really on the tennis court was one of the funnier things I've seen in a few months. Not to mention he almost knocked my cousin out with one of this back hands. If you haven't tried one of those games yet, you need to get out and give it a shot, it's crazy what people are able to come up with these days with technology.
