What is up sports fans! You guys may have a few questions like 'where have you been?' and the answer is...busy. Now it's my turn to ask the questions. Did the NY Giants really win the Superbowl? Did Eli Manning really defeat Tom Brady and Bill Belichick aka the hoodie again? Did Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have a showdown at Pebble Beach?
Well not unless a showdown means aiming your gun directly at your feet in Tiger's case. Congrats Phil on the win. I'm actually a fan of both of them despite people saying you can't love both. I appreciate great playing and Tiger shot his first three rounds in the 60's so dude is close and many are predicting he will win the Masters.
Let's see I have hit football and golf and now in the NBA the Knicks are on fire and Jeremy Lin is playing out of his mind, here's to hoping he doesn't remember he's playing for the Knicks. Don't get me wrong, I love the Knicks and I love the Garden but the Knicks are known for spontaneously combusting during the season.
Speaking of the NBA what is going on with Carlos Boozer's dome? Watch a Chicago Bulls game and check out dude's hair or whatever the hell that's supposed to be on his head. Looks like he hit his scalp with some graffiti black or some shoe polish.
On a more serious note in the world of college football, the Penn State scandal isn't going away anytime soon. Sandusky is staying in the news more recently due to Mrs. Sandusky going Need for Speed on some reporter near her home. Did you guys see the video, if not you need to check it out.
A judge ruled Monday that Jerry Sandusky can have supervised contact with most of his grandchildren. Judge John Cleland also rejected request by prosecutors that jurors be brought in from outside the State College area to hear the case and that Sandusky remain indoors while in home confinement before trial.
Prosecutors made the request after hearing neighbors' concerns about the safety of children at an elementary school behind Sandusky's home.
Judge John Clelin said, "The commonwealth failed to present any evidence whatsoever that the defendant presents a clearly defined threat to any student at the ajoining elementary school simply by being on his deck. No evidence was presented that at any time the defendant made any effort to contact any of the children by signaling or calling to them, or that he made any gestures directed toward them, or that he acted in any inappropriate way whatsoever."
Ok look I believe in innocent until proven guilty but come on! What is this judge blind? No evidence? Did you not see the Bob Costas interview? I'm not a lawyer I'm just going by the numerous Law & Order episodes I've watched, but how many smoking guns do you need?
Sandusky faces 52 criminal counts for what prosecutors say was the sexual abuse of 10 boys over a 15 year period. He has denied the allegations. Judge Cleland said that jury selection will be a challenge because of the pretrial publicity and the special role Penn State plays in the Centre County Community.
Sandusky's lawyer Joe Amendale said, "While we are happy with the outcome of Friday's hearings, we realize, nevertheless, a number of difficult legal battles lie ahead of us."
You have to love this judge, he says that jury selection will be a problem. Yeah I can see how, if ever there was a college town it's State College, Pennsylvania. Penn State runs everything there including the police department. I don't want this dude to have a jury of his peers since it was his peers who looked the other way...allegedly.
And his lawyer Joe Amendale says that parents use a shortcut through the Sandusky's backyard to get to the elementary school. Oh yeah because moms are going to walk their kids by that house...give me a break, but this is the same lawyer who thought it was a good idea to put his client in front a mic and let him do a phone interview which was creepy as hell and the sit down interview was even creepier. The interviews were attempts to present Sandusky as a grandfatherly type around kids...mission failed.
At least he stopped wearing Penn State gear at all of his press conferences, you know the Board of Trustees were cringing each time they saw him at the court house in their threads. The trial is scheduled to start in mid May.
