The Cincinnati Bengals have signed rookie S Jeromy Miles from their practice squad. To make room for him on the 53-man roster, the Bengals waived DE Victor Adeyanju. Adeyanju, a fifth-year NFL player, signed with the team last Thursday. He was inactive for last week’s game against the visiting Buffalo Bills.
Miles, a rookie out of the University of Massachusetts, could dress for Thursday's game against the host New York Jets since starting SS Roy Williams (concussion) is unlikely to play.
Miles (6-2, 215; Massachusetts) joined the Bengals as a college free agent after the 2010 NFL Draft and played in all five preseason games, logging six tackles. He was waived Sept. 4 and signed Sept. 5 to the practice squad, where he has been for Games 1-10.
Miles had a draftable grade from some scouting services, but went unselected in April's NFL Draft.
A source confirmed the team worked out CB Fred Bennett, who signed with the team on Tuesday, and CB Geoffrey Pope.
