The Philadelphia Eagles will likely be without starting FS Nate Allen (neck) when they play at the Washington Redskins Monday evening. Fellow rookie S Kurt Coleman is expected to start in his place, but the team worked out a defensive back on Tuesday.
Free-agent DB Cary Harris, who is capable of playing safety and cornerback, worked out for the team. Harris, who was recently waived by the Buffalo Bills, was selected in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by Buffalo.
As expected, the Eagles also worked out free-agent DE Nick Reed. The Eagles have now worked out a total of 18 players this season.
The team also made a few roster moves on Tuesday.
The Eagles waived undrafted rookie RB Joique Bell and released DE Pannel Egboh from the practice squad. Bell’s release still leaves the team with three running backs on the 53-man roster. Bell was a healthy inactive for last week's game.
According to NBC-KECI in Montana, the Eagles will fill Bell’s spot on the 53-man roster by signing S Colt Anderson off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. A source confirmed the move won't become official until Wednesday. The team will practice for the first time this week on Thursday.
With Egboh gone, the team now has one open spot on the practice squad.
