FOXSports.com’s Jay Glazer reports Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is expected to meet with head coach Mike Smith and general manager Tom Dimitroff early next week for multi-year extensions.
Dimitroff has been the architect for the team’s turnaround since the 2008 season. Known as one of the top personnel evaluators in the NFL, Dimitroff handpicked Smith to be the head coach.
The decision to pick Smith has been one of many solid decisions the team has made over the past few seasons.
Dimitroff's decisions to sign RB Michael Turner in free agency, to trade for TE Tony Gonzalez and to select QB Matt Ryan with their first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft were probably the biggest factors in Atlanta's turnaround.
