Raiders' Wimbley to sign franchise tender
Oakland Raiders starting SLB Kamerion Wimbley will sign his one-year franchise tender, agent Joe Linta told FOXSports.com. The veteran player agent said the one-year salary is valued at $11.312 million.
Wimbley will sign the tender because both sides were unable to reach a long-term deal. However, it’s believed the Raiders will try to sign him to a multi-year contract once a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
Once he signs his one-year contract, the entire franchise salary for 2011 will become guaranteed. Of course, it's not 100 percent certain franchise tags will be included in the new CBA, but it's widely believed they will be.
Wimbley, who was acquired from the Cleveland Browns on March 14, 2010, for a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, led the Raiders in sacks last season with nine.
