Former University of Alabama WR Julio Jones will have surgery for a broken foot, NFL.com reported. The surgery, which will require an eight-week rehab period, could prevent Jones from working out for teams before the NFL Draft.
Jones, who has terrific size and hands, posted a surprising 4.39 in the 40-yard dash last weekend. Because teams have that 40-yard dash time to go off of, Jones shouldn't drop in the draft much if at all despite the impending surgery.
Jones, who is the second-rated wide receiver available for the draft, is expected to be selected as one of the top 10 picks in the first round.
