Chicago Bears veteran RB Chester Taylor, who is due only $1.25 million in base salary, is likely to stay on for another season, a source said. A recent report out of Chicago suggested Taylor would be released.
Taylor earned $7 million ($4 million roster bonus, $2 million signing bonus, $955,000 base salary, $45,000 workout bonus) in 2010. Taylor has no more guaranteed money in his contract, which ends after the 2014 season.
The only other running backs under contract for next season behind starter Matt Forte are the rarely-used Kahlil Bell and Harvey Unga, who did not play during his rookie season in 2010 because of a hamstring injury.
The Bears are unlikely to find a veteran back at Taylor’s low price tag for 2011, so look for him to stick around for another season.
