RB Taiwan Jones (Eastern Washington) made big headlines last week when he posted blistering 40-yard dash times of anywhere from 4.24-4.31 on his first attempt and 4.27-4.35 during his second attempt during his personal pro day for over 20 NFL teams.
Most running backs that run that well are typically very small, but Jones isn’t small. That was very evident after getting a chance to watch a tape of his pro day workout.
Jones, who stands just about 6-0, weighed in at 198 during the pro day. He has weighed as much as 205 during his training period over the past few months. He has very large thighs and a long frame.
Jones, who is scheduled to visit the Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders this week, is scheduled to visit the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday. However, Jones will not work out with the other 49 prospects during the 49ers local prospects pro day. He will stand on his outstanding workout numbers.
The Dolphins only have two running backs under contract for this coming season--Lex Hilliard and Kory Sheets. Both players have 23 carries combined for their careers.
The Raiders seemingly are in good shape at running back, but owner Al Davis has been on never-ending search for speed at any position.
The 49ers have three backs on the roster under contract for 2011, but none of them are known for their speed.
