Team USA's Opening and Closing Ceremony uniforms were made in China

On Tuesday, the US Olympic Committee officially unveiled the threads Team USA will be wearing during the Opening and Closing Ceremony Parade at the London Olympics this summer. As usual, the uniforms have drawn mixed reviews. Similar to the way people felt at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, some are saying they reek of military propaganda while others appreciate the nostalgic feel of the navy blazers, white pants and berets. Those are simply opinions, but the fact of the matter is the uniforms are made in China.
While they were designed in America by the famous Ralph Lauren himself, the US athletes will be covered in head to toe with garments and accessories that are labeled “Made in China.” Like many others, US fashion designer Nanette Lepore said she is shocked that the uniform manufacturing was outsourced.
“Why shouldn’t we have pride not only in the American athletes, but in the American manufacturers and laborers who are the backbone of our country?” Lepore asked according to ABC News. “Why? What’s wrong? Why was that not a consideration?”
In fact, Lepore says US manufacturers could have made the uniforms much cheaper. The men’s uniforms cost close to $2,000 each while the women’s are nearly $1,500, with the men’s blazers and shirts making up nearly $1,000 of that price and the women’s blazers and skirts doing the same. When ABC News reached out to the US Olympic committee for comment, they gave a very generic answer.
“The U.S. Olympic team is privately funded and we’re grateful for the support of our sponsors. We’re proud of our partnership with Ralph Lauren, an iconic American company.”
The US is not the first country to be upset with their Olympic uniforms (see Great Britain’s uniforms here). Americans are simply displeased for a different reason.
As expected, US lawmakers are outraged at the decision of the US Olympic Committee to turn to China for the manufacturing of American Olympic clothing. Repiblican and Democratic members of Congress voiced their opinions on Thursday.
"I am so upset," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) said during a news conference at Capitol Hill. "I think the Olympic committee should be ashamed of themselves. I think they should be embarrassed. I think they should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again."
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) added that he simply would think the USOC would "know better." This is shaping up to be one heck of a PR nightmare and the Games have yet to even begin.

If the U.S. Olympic team had an ounce of patrotism they would refuse to wear them, and the viewers should boycott them. Lets see what that does to their TV revenues?
Traitors -
they should be naked like the first olimpics and not where this chinese crap
-
What a sham, shame on Ralph Lauren, I agree with a lot of the other post, the athletes should be the one to boycott the uniforms and as a former Olympic hopeful, we have to support our nations Athletes!! Watch the Olympics, support our nation. But for me I will Never purchase a Ralph Lauren garment ever again. I just started by going through my dressers and closet, pulled all the RL stuff out and will be having a burn party tonight, which I will post on Youtube..... Start the Ralph Lauren boycott today and post in the net.... I bet RL get the picture and will have to go into damage control. My wife just gave me the wtf are you doing with all those cloth in a pile look..... Should be fun!!!!! SCREW YOU RALPH LAUREN!!!!
-
I am with you. If we all boycott the message might get through to Businesses all across the country. Whenever I shop I try very hard not to buy "made in China" items but then feel I am hurting distributers and jobs of those in our stores trying to live on minimum wage as it is. The product isn't always the whole picture. BUT, in this case...no store involved. Blame the Olympic commitee for their stupidity. And for thinking we are also too stupid to fall for their panned statement about the valued and reputable RL....may he feel it in record bottoming out sales.
BURN BABY BURN -
I'm with you, the team should wear what they want, but then all clothing is "made in china" can't win them all.
-
I agree that they should refuse to wear these outfits also. Plus did you see them? They are UGLY. Maybe someone will donate some money and get a US designer to outfit the team.
-
It is totally wrong for the uniforms to be made in china. But do you realize how hard the athletes work to get to the Olympics. You can't just ask them to walk away from something most of them have worked their whole lives for just because some idiots took the cheap way out. The atheletes should not be punished. Don't question their patrotism they wouldn't be there if they didn't have any do you know the back story on those kids? The uniforms should be re made but showing up naked is not going to do anyone any good. Support your team not the politics.
-
I don't see any problems here, why shouldn't accept the reality that China doing the role to supply the world's demands.
-
it is people with attitudes like yours that are hurting this country. you need to take more pride in your country and products. try to support jobs in our country, and economy here, not abroad.
outsourcing hurts our economy and our country, along with moral and patriotism.
the young generation does not seem to understand this, they were brought up around foreign made products and have no value on keeping our nation strong. -
If we can't even have uniforms made in the U.S., then cancel our involvement. Enough is enough for outsourcing.
-
I'm in complete agreement! When is this country going to learn? Not until something like this occurs!
I'm boycotting and will not watch ANY programming on the network covering this event.
Seriously -
THIS has brought DISGRACE to all of America and all American
-
For shame that anyone would allow this with the state of our economy. The athletes have worked too long and hard for this so now they have no choice but to wear these silly imports.
-
Big business is a JOKE! but I don't think the athletes should throw away their talent due to some idiot who decides to outsource his clothing line to a different country for an American event (just rubbing that in with hopes that he reads this).
-
I enjoy watching the Olympic's and am always amazed at what these teams can do but I thought this was the United States Of America not the United dtates of China. With th way the companies are handed tax brakes for shipping our jobs oversea's maybe Ralph got a break as well. Is it time we just hand the key's over to China and say the hell with it. Our for fathers would be so upset of how this country is going and how we send everything over sea's and keep giving away jobs. If our Olymic Team wants to show the respect of the country they are there for then take the uniforms and burn them put on jeans and a shirt and carry on. Ralph move to China.
-
This is the United States of America and we could and should make new uniforms for our athletes before next weeks opening ceremony. Our athletes should be proud of their accomplishments through hard work and proud of our country by wearing Made in USA uniforms.
-
An "American Company" does NOT outsource production to foreign slave labor! I will NOT support the American Olympic team nor Ralph Lauren
-
The American Olympic Team is not responsible for this gaff. Don't hold these fine young people responsible for the actions of others.
-
It is not the Team, it is the organizers that should be replaced by proud americans.
-
I have to agree with you. These athletes are unfortunately caught in the middle. this isn't their fault. After reading the article I was so angry, I wanted to toss Ralph Lauren out of the country and everyone involved on the Olympic Committee who obviously have no understanding of the words "PRIDE or LOYALTY". But then I figured I better take a look in my closet and my dresser. And to my disgust I can only find two things made in the U.S.A. My running shoes and jacket I baught at a fundraiser for breast cancer. How sad is that. Maybe WE all need to start looking in our closets and figuring out what WE did to enable things to get here. I know I'd rather work harder to pay more for something, if I was helping my neighbor keep his/her job. Kindof sucks typing this on my computer made in China. Change is never easy. How much worse do We as a country need to let it get?
-
Hate to break it to you and everyone else, bud, but where do you think 99% of the stuff you buy nowadays comes from, Milwaukee?
-
You are right, majordomo; but when we shop, we have the right to choose to buy or not. We, as contributors to the USOC, had NO say so in this matter; that is what bothers me.
-
You are right, Majordomo, but when we shop, we have the right to choose to buy or not. As USOC contributors, we had NO rights in this decision, and that is what bothers me.
-
so that makes it ok ?
way to justify something so ridiculous.
what do you think is hurting our economy and our nation's pride ?
this needs to stop, we need to get back to making this a better county, and not resorting to outsourcing because it will make the bottom line look a little better.
look at apple and foxconn, apple continues to post record profits, but they seem to think that the only way they will make a profit is to have Chinese labor manufacture all of their products. maybe they won't make quite as much profit if they manufactured in the USA, but at least they would be keeping that revenue and economy here, locally, where it should be, creating jobs for AMERICAN people and supporting LOCAL ECONOMY.
so what if they don't make 400% profit off each iPhone that the Chinese are assembling, I'm sure they could still make a nice profit here at home, and pay taxes HERE not there and employ people HERE not there.
and don't kid yourselves, China does not give a crap about us or any other nation other than their own. thats the way they have always been and will always be.
-
I understand your displeasure, but it would be wrong to not support the team because the designer went overseas for labor. The US team certainly doesn't have a choice in where Lauren goes. I would love to see the team refuse to wear the uniforms if they are made overseas, but not at the expense of their being kicked off the team. I couldn't endorse that, particularly after all the hard work they put into getting to the Olympics.
However, I totally agree with having the American public give Ralph Lauren & ALL his products the boot! -
NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!
-
This is a direct slap in the face to all American workers as well as our proud Olympians !
How can this happen ? The uniforms should be boycotted by our athletes and not worn. -
This is disgraceful - If our own Olympic team can't see that our current economice condition is due to the negative balance of trade. They are supporting the demise of the US economy.
I for one will not support the US Oolympic team this year with any contributions and will probably consider not watching the Summer Olympics, this year. -
This is a disgrace. The Olympic Committee is a joke. There are a lot of American based designer companies that could've done up these uniforms. Also, since when do Americans wear berets?
-
look like the foreign legion
-
I agree wholeheartedly with the exception about the berets. The U.S. Army, in perticlurely The Army Special Forces and the Army Rangers along with a number of other U.S. military units have worn berets since the 1960s during the Veitnam "Conflict"..
-

-
Ralph Lauren is an Amereican designer and all of our service men and women wear berets.
-
I felt the same way when I saw the berets. But, my Granddaughter was wearing a beret the other day and I thought how strange at the time. I find the UBBER UPPER CRUST yahting style '"RrrWauther" snobbish and these are not the clothes best to represent American atheletes...IMO
-
Nice use of the word Wreak, however Wreak is an action, Reek would be what those blazers are doing.
-
This is like betting against the home team, and we all know what happened to Pete Rose for doing that! I will never buy from Ralph Lauren again, like I did when a barber told me how my hair should be cut.
-
I agree, boycott the ones who made this decision, not our team!
-
you got to be kidding! the usa's uniforms "made in china"? that's about the stupidest thing i've ever heard. if i were one of those athletes i'd refuse to wear it or quit the team. whoever decided to have uniforms made in china should move to china. dumba$$'.
-
they should come out naked like in the first olympics
-
This is outrageous!!! The person(s) responsible for making this decision should be fired and people in China should be hired to replace them. Maybe then they would get the point. Shame on them and unless the athletes refuse to wear these uniforms I won't be tuning in to the Olympics this year.
-
This is horrible, they can't even get american made uniforms for the f*cking olympics? Sad, very sad. I'm sure there's plenty of americans that would be hornored to make the team USA uniforms.
-
I totally agree with Bluefish and BikerBrent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
When are we going to wise up. What the HELL is wrong with this **** .I will not watch this on tv or even look on the web I'am getting really tired of these greedy bastards. How much did we pay for this asshole to design this sh**. Back stab us and give the job to them communist bastards.
-
It is a disgrace to our country!!! All the uniforms should be made in the USA!!! This is part of the problem.. we have shipped out all our trade. Bring back the trades and you bring back the jobs!!!
Who the blazes allowed our Olympic uniforms to be made in China???? Bad form...Bad idea...Bad for America!!!! -
This is horrible, they can't even get american made uniforms for the olympics? I'm sure there were plenty of americans that would've been honored to make the uniforms, at a much cheaper cost. This is a disgrace to the united states.
-
What a joke...all the money Rallph Lauren has made seeling goods in the US and he can't put out a few extra $$'s to ensure the US Olympic team is wearing goods made in the USA...there are some real greedy people in this world...also leave it to Ralph to give us French Berets?
-
looks like the french foreign leagion
-
Surely R. Lauren saved $ by doing this!!!!! FOR SHAME!!!!!!! R. Lauren should re-do this in the US of A & eat the cost.!!!!Money Money Money. Ugly way to go about business. Ethics might be another idea. This puts an ugly dark spot on America & the Olympics. ABC news said that doing the uniforms in USA would have created 1 BILLION in revenue. So...R. Lauren must not care.
by catinahat
-
should kick his money grubbing ass off of the fashion scene for this crap
-
That is Embarrassing as an American!!!! Guess I'm gonna clean out my closet...Good Riddens Ralph!!!! :-(
-
It honestly doesnt surprise me these days. You think ralph lauren was gonna risk his profit share on mark up to honor this country. Answer is Absolutely not. The greed that has taken over this world these days is bothersome. Down to the point the the old ways of a hard days earn pay and making an honest living doesnt exist. From Tv's that break right after the warranty is done to the cars we buy made in mexico because apparently they dont make enough money having americans build our cars. They are all in it together. All consumer companies have managed to engineer products that fail more rapidly than before. Built to break so you can buy more. Greed. The down fall of all empires from history.
-
we need to boycott everything not made in america.......... let these companies eat all this crap they buy overseas
but i doubt that will happen every one wants cheap need to get rid of all the unions in the us they were good for the 1800's but not today they all need to go away!!! and maybe we can compete again -
The USOC can't get it right. That's amazing! Hopefully the idiot that set this in motion is filing for unemployment.
-
might as well get our atheletes from china too. just bought new band equip. the ones from china dont work. buy american
-
According to the article, they could have been made for less in the U.S. Disgraceful. I urge everyone to not send any money to support U.S. Olympics unless they pledge to have the uniforms made in the United States. First, they are ugly, and now the ultimate insult that they are made in China! All viewers should boycott the Olympics. I know I am.
-
For me the they say, "Euro trash". But then I heard Travolta say he found the britches stunning. Lawrence Welk had better costumes.
-
As disgraceful as this may be, we a re all responsible because we continue to sit on th side lines and allow corporations and the wealthy to destroy this country. And the worst is yet to come.
-
I work in the Apparel Industry & we have some fabulous! factories, sewers & technicians right here in NYC. How can this happen? Sheer stupidity & disregard.
Joan123 -
I would like everyone who complains about outsourcing to look through their closets and find how many American made pieces they own. You aren't willing to pay the higher prices that come with it either.
-
Article clearly says they could have been made in the U.S. for less. Do you know how hard it is to actually FIND something off the rack made in the U.S.? The USOC had a choice here, as do the buyers for the retail chains and they both keep making the wrong choices.
-
Why higher prices? Since when higher prices began? Did your grandmother have to pay higher prices for her closing that was made in the US back in 70s and earlier -I don't think so.
-
get rid of the dam unions and all their crap and we cold afford our own products........ yall need to wake up
-
Isn't that the truth. Unions don't want a fair and living wage with benefits; they want top dollar with better than any other average American benefits package and especially enough to cover the mega millions for the union leaders at the top. The downfall of American isn't the Corporations ie Rich-- it is the government fees, costs, and unions that created the off-shore management and out-sourcing in the first place. WTO or WHO or whichever that helps keep the imbalance in trade and allows foreign countries to buy into America instead of paying fees or limiting imports. Don't pull support from the Olympians but need to stop buying into the propoganda that everything American made costs too much. I'd be willing to pay extra but greed has them wanting EXTRA extra. Need to get back to true costs not the inflated cost.
Definitely never buying RL products in future. Just watch there will probably be red carpet celebs supporting RL yet name PETA their greatest CAUSE. Wish they cared as much about people as they state they care about animals. -
Thanks, ALREADY CAN'T FIND A JOB IN AMERICA. China is set to take AMERICA over very soon! DumbAss politicians screwed everything up, all for profit. Corporations will be the down fall of AMERICA. I would have liked to have a job sewing uniforms for my country.
-
The bad thing is that you want a wage that you can survive on and a businessman can get the same job done for less and put difference in the pocket. It's only proft-driven, there is no social responsibility anymore as it used to be...
-
Nobody thought for one moment that this would not sit well with the American public? I for one will never buy Ralph Lauren again. In my small way I have begun a campaign of buying american made only, when ever possible. My husband is a Vietnam Vet and has made me return items made in Vietnam I do it gladly. When I shop the lable is always part of my consideration, I expect the same from the organizations I donate to! The olympics will have to continue without my money until they get their heads out of their backsides!
-
Figures, money money money that's all this country and greedy manufactures think about. Doesn't cost that much for a presentable outfit to be worn, what, wear it one time then toss it out? And having slave labor make them in China is way off the grid. Since when did we make China a State in this country,or is it the other way around? I am ashamed of our country be represented by liars at the Olympics in England and will not watch it at all. Yes, to look "spiffy" for Her Majesty is super but at these prices? Sponsors are sending bad messages by jacking up prices on things they make,I know I would never spend that kind of my $$ for something I could make myself and wear it more than once as well as saving for my GranKids.
-
Knowing this now, i don't think i'll watch anymore olympics!!!!
-
Good Idea - Only business men think over seas. Hey as long as it was designed in America - doesn't make a difference right?
-
I think everyone with money and anykind of power is slowly destorying this country .htis is just one sign . these people need to get off their high horses and bring america and its pride back
-
What's with all the shock and dismay, people? We out-source damn near everything else to China, from dogfood to vital defense components (see Patrick Buchanan's The Great Betrayal) so why not Olympic uniforms? Welcome to reality.
-
America has no one to blame but itself. On what planet is it a good idea to cut funding for colleges and universities from 75% 40 years ago to 7% this year, thus forcing them to recruit students from overseas to fill in the budget gaps? And then, once we have educated those students in science, engineering, technology, and math, lets send them back to their home countries to use that knowledge and skill to beat us at our own game, when we all know those students would love to stay in the US. Talk about the Great Betrayal!
-
Figures. The mighty dollar's more important than American pride evidently.. I hope the kids all get together and wear something else.
-
SHAME ON YOU!!!
-
If you think this is a slap in the face listen up.
a friend of mine is a v nam vet and got a new UNITED STATES MARINE hat and he showed
me the inside of it and it says , made in china .
if you don't believe me ask a service man to show you the inside of his hat
just plain disgusting. -
My family and I will never buy Ralph Lauren clothing from this point forward. He should be ashamed of what he has done. Is he a real American??????????
-
Outsourcing has been going on forever...so what's the problem now??!! Every company you speak with over the phone is in a foreign country. Whose responsible for outsourcing? Corporations who want materials made for less.
-
Whatever54, You are so right.....Hey, America, here is an idea: put this country ahead of your own corporate greed for once. Thousands of Americans have died for our freedoms and we repay them by not giving them jobs upon their return home? How's that for patriotism?
-
This is not the first time U.S. Olympians wore those french looking berets, but it is dumb looking and not at all American. Ralph Lauren clearly does not know what U.S. patriotism looks like.
-
Don't you know that berets are part of the US Army uniforms. And what do the Army Special Forces The Green Berets wear ?
-
the madness must stop "made in china" the U.S. Olympic team should speak up and just say NO
GOD BLESS AMERICA not Ralph Lauren
-
Millions of american workers layed off and the Olympic Committee out sources American iniforms to China. Don't expect any support from this family. I agree with Blue fish the U. S. Olympic Team should refuse to wear the uniforms.
-
I agree 100% - Just like the fists in the air at the medal ceromony in the 60's, refusing to wear these "Made in China" USA Olympic uniforms gives our American athletes a change to send a message.
Update: July 18, 2012
I agree 100% - Just like the fists in the air at the medal ceromony in the 60's, refusing to wear these "Made in China" USA Olympic uniforms gives our American athletes a chance to send a message. -
This didn't happen overnight. It's been happening over the past 15-20 years, but the economy was kept going by middle class Americans tapping into the equity on their homes until they were completely tapped out.
It shouldn't be all about Democrats or Republicans!
It should be about doing the right thing for our country and the majority of its citizens. I consider myself an independent voter, but going back to the Reagan days and with the only exception having been Perot, I’ve always voted Republican. But all this single-minded, left versus right, ideological one dimensional bull has got to go! This is the problem with our country. It shouldn't be about Democrats or Republicans! It should be about Americans, especially our elected officials, doing the right thing for our country and its citizens.
Both parties have sold out the bulk of the American citizens, who they're supposed to represent, by allowing the "out-sourcing" floodgates to open wider and wider without taking any sensible measures to stem the tide. (Under Clinton jobs to China, Under Bush I & II influx of illegals or cheap easily abused labor into the US and jobs to Mexico/NAFTA) Our leaders are elected by the Citizens of the United States of America to represent the interests of those citizens and the country itself. They are NOT elected by the Global Market Place or foreign citizens!
We need whoever wins the next election to Start Protecting American Jobs and do whatever it takes to bring back the jobs they let go. They've got to give us somebody who will stand up for the American people.
We need to bring manufacturing back to the United States of America and both parties are ignoring tariffs as a way to level the playing field, raise money and bring jobs back home. Let's guess why. Oh that's right, tariff is a dirty word. Hum, maybe it’s that our so called leaders (political leaders) are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.
I guess we should keep letting Corp Boards, Wall Street, CEOs and Foreign Lobbyists promote sending US jobs to countries where they work for slave wages, no benefits, no OSHA safety standards or no real environment regulations. How's that been working for us?
The so called “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field. Companies may have made higher profits by "out sourcing", but they've been putting middle class Americans who are a good part of the world’s customer base out of work. I’m not a lefty or member of any union. I run a business that employs over 20 people and produces products that are purchased by customers that do manufacturing and packaging. I’m just an average Joe, but I've been saying this for more than 10 years now. If I can see it, so can our so called leaders (political leaders) who are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.
We need to add tariffs that are proportionate to the inequities in wages and regulations in the country where the goods were produced and or where we’re importing them from. We could then use the money raised by these tariffs to help companies build state of the art manufacturing plants here in the USA, which would create more jobs here at home for US citizens, which would then in turn increase our income tax revenue.
The people with all of the excuses as to why we can’t or aren’t willing to manufacture products here in the US are the same people who have provided us with the thinking that’s gotten us into this mess in the first place.
Over the past 15-20 years, I've seen too many of our customer's close manufacturing plants here in the USA and move those plants to different countries, decimating entire areas here in OUR COUNTRY. And I'm not alone. Returning jobs to American Citizens will provide income tax revenue to OUR Government versus our government having to pay unemployment benefits to those who would be jobless instead.
Bringing manufacturing back to the US not only gives jobs to the US citizens who would be working in those manufacturing facilities, but to the people that would be working in the businesses that would spring up all around them. This should also include the safe harvesting, production and distribution of our own natural energy here in the USA, rather than paying for fuel from countries where they hate us. Let’s keep that money and those jobs here in the US.
These so-called “free trade agreements” have to go. It was obvious when they were passing these agreements as to what was going to happen and sure enough it did. Our leaders had to have known this as well when they were passing these bills. It’s just common sense. We also need to bring customer support services back to the United States of America and staff them with employees who are US Citizens.
The “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field! The whole idea of the tariffs is so we can pay our factory workers a decent wage and not be blown out by these other countries where they don’t play by the same rules.
We may have to pay a bit more for products made here in the USA by US citizens, but at least we'll still have jobs and a future for our children.
The bottom line is that “Our Government” has to protect American industry and the jobs that those industries provide. If they do that, the rest will take care of itself.
All this single-minded, left versus right, ideological one dimensional bull has got to go!
This is the problem with our country.
It shouldn't be about Democrats or Republicans!
It should be about Americans, especially our elected officials, doing the right thing for our country and its citizens.
-
AMEN to that ProtectUSJobs!!!!!
-
I would so vote for you for president!
-
BIEN DICHO!!!!!!!!
-
I believe it, but can't support it! We saw the same thing on a recent visit to West Point, our military academy, almost everything in the gift store was made in China! The Olympic committee will never receive another donation from me! I hope the athletes have enough guts to not wear the uniforms.
-
Why was there ever a consideration made for China to make the outfits? How do we expect people to by American when we don't follow what we preach!! This is a horrible mistake on the part of the Olympic committee and hopefully these same people aren't in charge 4 years from now.
-
Outrageous! Our own Olympic team cannot wear something made in the USA? Shame on the USOC and Ralph Lauren. I have lost any incentive to watch the Olympics and/or support the advertisers. If NBC had any guts, they would demand a change. With American know-how, it is never too late.
-
THIS IS SOOOO WRONG ON MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS. AS AN AMERICAN I AM DISGUSTED AND ASHAME. I DONT KNOW WHOSE IDEAL THIS WAS BUT THEY NEED TO BE HORSE WHIPPED. IF THEY ARE GOING TO WEAR CHINA MADE GARMMENTS THEY COULD HAVE ORDERED THEM ONLINE FROM WALMART.COM AND GOTTEN SOMETHING MUCH CHEAPER!
-
Does this mean that all of Ralph Lauren's products are Chinese? And why do they cost so much? A few yards of materials... I bet that local ladies could have sewned them together by hand....
-
What is wrong with us??????
-
I worked as a supplier to the apperl industry for 30 years. What is wrong is greed by some, others want it cheap and easy, then others are just plain lazy.
-
For this I will never donate to the American(?) Olympic Central Committee.
-
**** china these uniforms should have been made by americans for americans to represent our country at the olympics if the people in charge of the american team have any back bone they will scrap those uniforms and have some made by americans who will take pride in the creation of them and will get paid for it too
-
UNBELIEVABLE.... United States Olympic Team relies on donations and corporate sponsors to fund the athlete's Olympic Experience and those individuals that made the decision to outsource the clothing line need to be identified and then immediately banned from any more contracts with the USA Olympic Team.
This is chickenshit... to think the person that received the contract to have these uniforms made and then outsourced it for profit should be made to return all the profits to the USA OLYMPIC TEAM! NOW!
-
I think this is bull, why wasn't these made in America USA, by real americans. But it does not surprise me. I was out one day and wanted to buy a new Flag for the 4th and to my surprise when I looked at it what did I see but MAde in China, now that just made me mad as hell and I put it right back. This needs to stop.
-
Another slap in the face to the American garment industry
-
As Americans, we should demand that our Olympians have American made uniforms. It is as if to say we cannot make clothing better than China. What ever happened to American Pride? I would ask that tahe uniforms were made over and by Americans only.
