Readers of this blog have read about Brandt Snedeker and his putting prowess in a prior post. Brandt Snedeker? Isn't he the guy who had the 4-putt meltdown at The BMW Championship in 2009? Brandt Snedeker is tied for the lead after three rounds of the Tour Championship? I'm sure that makes Davis Love feel tremendous. On the other hand, Jim Furyk's 17th hole disaster today might make Love feel a little uneasy. All in all though, a great day of golf and a great leaderboard set up for Sunday. But Brandt Snedeker was the story of the day. A six under par 64 today ties him for the lead with Justin Rose at eight under par. Snedeker, of course, was most effective with his putting game. And, of course, we are going to look at his numbers. Snedeker is in the top three in six of seven statistical categories we looked at. The breakdown: Driving Accuracy: Tied for 1st Driving Distance: 16th Strokes Gained Putting: 2nd Putts Per Round: Tied for 3rd Putts per GIR: 3rd Greens in Regulation: Tied for 1st Sand Saves: Tied for 1st Drive for show and putt for dough as the old saying goes. We who play the game but do not make a living from it can take a valuable lesson from Snedeker's performance. He has ten million reason$ to repeat this performance tomorrow. Here's hoping Snedeker can bring that red hot putting game to the Ryder Cup.
