10. Washington State’s first year head coach Mike Leach spoke out pretty strongly against his team, more specifically his O-line following a 49-6 loss to Utah.
"A part of it's effort, and some of it borders on cowardice," said Leach, as reported by the Spokesman-Review. "Our five couldn't whip their two. Sometimes they brought two. Our five couldn't whip two. If five of our guys went in an alley and got in a fight with two of theirs, we would have gotten massacred. That's just ridiculously inexcusable. It was one of the most heartless efforts I've ever seen, and our D-line wasn't any better."
Maybe some of the criticism is warranted consider they have given up 16 sacks in 2 games.
Leach’s first season isn’t going particularly well. This week he suspended his top wide receiver and since taking over, a total of 17 players have left the program. Expect more to leave.
9. Former New Orleans Saints QB Bobby Hebert was kicked out of the press box at Tiger Stadium during Saturday’s Alabama vs. LSU game. You see, there’s this long standing tradition against cheering (or jeering) in the press box and Hebert decided to ignore it. Hebert was reportedly asked three separate times to refrain from loudly showing allegiance to the home team before being booted by campus police.
8. This is completely random. The Indiana Hoosiers control their own destiny in the Big 12 10 Genius Ineligibles Leaders division and no I’m not talking basketball. The Hoosiers are 4-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play. So you may say how in the heck do they control their own destiny? Well, both Ohio St. and Penn St. (the 1st and 2nd place teams) both are ineligible and they get Wisconsin (3rd place team) at home on Saturday. If they win that will make them the de facto leader of the division with 2 conference games remaining. I can see it now, Indiana vs. Nebraska in the Big 10 Championship game, great TV!
7. Oregon RB Kenjon Barner’s 321 yards, 30 points and 5 TD’s were all records for an opponent against the mighty USC Trojans. USC has been playing football since 1888 and no one, that’s right no one has ever had the kind of day against their defense that Barner did. Could that be a fireable offense for the Defensive Coordinator? Probably not since he’s the head coach’s father.
6. The Maryland Terrapins, yes the same fashion unconscious Terps, have lost 3, count ‘em 3 starting QB’s this season! They are now down to their 4th string (if there is such a thing) QB Shawn Petty who is a former scout team linebacker. That’s right I said linebacker.
5. Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry on again? Well not quite, but there is a distinct possibility that the two could lock horns (or paws or whatever) in this year’s Cotton Bowl. A&M could very well finish as the 3rd best team in the SEC and that often means the Cotton Bowl as a post season destination, the same goes true for the 2nd best team in the Big 12, which seems to fit the ‘Horns.
4. Exactly one month ago the West Virginia Mountaineers were flying high at 5-0 and ranked #5 in the country. Now they are out of the polls and staring at the possibility of not even becoming bowl eligible. What happened? Well the WVU defense is ranked 111th in total defense and 120th (that’s dead last) in pass defense. Luckily for them they end their season with a home game against Kansas which should give them win number 6 should they decide to add to their 3 game losing streak by losing to Oklahoma St., Oklahoma and Iowa St.
3. LSU’s 22 game home winning streak, dating back to 2009, came to a crashing (or should I say screening) end with its loss to Alabama. During that streak they beat: Auburn twice, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas twice, Mississippi St., West Virginia, Tennessee, McNeese, Alabama, ULM, Ole Miss, Northwestern St., Kentucky, Florida, Western Kentucky, North Texas, Washington, Idaho, Towson and South Carolina. Is that as impressive as it sounded before I gave you the list?
2. Since 1990, the Kentucky Wildcats have had 5 head football coaches. Not a terrible number, but not all that good either. None has stayed longer than 6 years or won more than 8 games. They’ll get number 6 after this season ends.

A little political flare: 3 United States Presidents are former college football players. 34th President Dwight Eisenhower played running back and linebacker at West Point until knee injuries cut his career short. 38th President Gerald Ford played center and lineman at Michigan and 40th President Ronald Reagan played football at Eureka College.
