I don’t understand NBA scheduling. My team, the Sacramento Kings, last played on Monday, February 4, 2013. They are not scheduled to play again until Saturday, February 9, 2013. That is a four day delay. I am sorry, my team may be lousy, but I need them to play. I miss my hoops.
Granted they did just come off of a six game road trip with several stops along the East Coast. After a grueling journey like that I could endorse a two or three day break. Four days seems excessive. This isn’t even the All-Star break as that doesn’t happen until later this month. During that hiatus the Kings get a five day vacation. Oy vey!
I am sure the players enjoy the time off with their families. Life on the road living out of a suitcase must be difficult. At least they are paid well for their trouble. As a fan who enjoys watching his local professional basketball team I feel like I am going through withdrawals with a four day lapse in play.
I’d offer to consult with the NBA for scheduling next year so this type of problem doesn’t reoccur but next season they will most likely be in Seattle and I won’t be following them anyway. For now I guess I will just have to suck it up and endure the absence of basketball action.
If something happens and they don’t play tomorrow night, though, I may need an intervention. You’ve all been warned.
