The Carolina Hurricanes continue to make adjustments to their roster.
Less than a week after acquiring defenseman Ian White from the Calgary Flames in a four-player swap and giving up forward Patrick O'Sullivan today to the Minnesota Wild via waivers the Hurricanes today acquired center Ryan Carter from the Anaheim Ducks for two prospects.
Carter, 27, is a versatile forward who can play center or wing. He's on the final year of a three-year contract carrying a cap hit of $625K per season. In 18 games this season with Anaheim he had 3 points, 22 PIMs and a plus-minus of -4. He played four post-season games with the Ducks during their Stanley Cup championship run in 2007.
His contract is a one-way deal but it's also quite affordable. Carter should see action on the Hurricanes fourth line.
