The prosecution in the Jerry Sandusky case just unearthed a bombshell today in a case that's captivated a nation.
Matt Sandusky, the adopted son of Jerry, said in a written statement that his father had abused him in the past. Matt Sandusky released the statement through his lawyers, Andrew Shubin and Justine Andronici. Shubin also represents two of the Sandusky 8.
The statement says, "During the trial, Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky's abuse. At Matt's request, we immediately arranged a meeting between him and the prosecutors and investigators."
It continued: "This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt and he has asked us to convey his request that the media respect his privacy."
Matt Sandusky had defended his father from child molestation allegations in the past. The Associated Press reports that Matt Sandusky had attempted suicide in 1995, shortly after moving in with the Sandusky's.
When Victim 4 took the stand earlier in the week, he said that Matt was visibly nervous when Jerry Sandusky tried to engage in a "soap battle" with them in the shower. Victim 4 continued by saying that Matt then turned off his shower and exited to another locker room.
The jury is currently deliberating .
