The USA Basketball team has selected its squad for the Summer Games in London and one NBAer is very upset at the selection process. And he sort of has a point. Detroit Pistons forward/center Greg Monroe feels slighted that he wasn't even selected for the USA Select Team. Monroe is a solid player, but I see why he didn't make the Olympic squad but the Select Team is another story. Bryan Colangelo made questionable choices for the Select Team such as seldom used Boston Celtics center Greg Stiemsma (2.9 PPG and 3.2 RPG) and New Orleans Hornets forward Lance Thomas, who had to sign two 10 day contracts this season with the Hornets. "No disrespect to those guys, looking at the Select Team roster, I felt like I should've been on there," Monroe said. "That's just the confidence I have in myself." The Select Team is formed to scrimmage against the US National Team and they potentially have an edge to make a future Olympic squad. "If I can't get on the Select Team (this year), I'm not expecting to be on the team in 2016," Monroe said of his snub. "I'm not going to sit here and wait. There's much more things I have to worry about here in Detroit and getting this team where it needs to be."
