Ryan Sweeney Out Eight Weeks After Punching Door
According to The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo, Boston Red Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney is expected to miss eight weeks after punching a door during last night's win against the Detroit Tigers.
Sweeney punched the door after Omar Infante robbed him of a base hit in the eighth inning.
“I just came down, walked down the stairs, and kind of punched the door a little bit,’’ said Sweeney after the game. “I’ve done [it] before, but maybe not to this extent.’’
Sweeney injured the outside knuckle on the pinkie of his throwing hand. He said he was unable to throw, so Cody Ross replaced him in the ninth.
Ryan Kalish is expected to replace Sweeney on the Red Sox roster.
