11/14/11: The U.S. Army All-American Bowl High School Player of the Week is Kelvin Taylor of Belle Glade, Florida. Like past Player of the Week honors, Taylor's performance in the game this past Friday is worthy of the award by itself, but it is his excellent high school career that sees him capture the honor this week.
Taylor became Florida's all-time leading rusher in last Friday's game, breaking Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith's 25 year old record. He recorded 388 yards and six touchdowns in Glade Day School's 43-22 win. The outstanding game boosted his career rushing yards to 8,975. That total is good for 171 yards more than Smith's record at Pensacola, FL. set in 1986. Taylor, the son of former NFL running back Fred Taylor, still has the playoffs of this season and his entire senior year to add to the new record. Will the new Florida rushing record ever be broken?
