Hey Yardbarker, it’s your boy Vernon Davis checking in. Hope you guys are having a cool summer. Mine has been bananas! I’ve been on an amazing fitness regimen of working out hard and eating well and I’m so proud to say that I’m entering the coming season at the top of my game. I’m finally able to see the fruits of my labor and I’m down from 6% body fat to 3.5%. It was a lot of hard work – especially giving up some of the sweets I was consuming like my brownies (without nuts, just for you baking fans).
For me it’s all about mind, body and spirit. So right now I’m reading The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. If you’ve never read it, I highly recommend this book. Let’s just say it schools you on being powerful and protecting yourself.
I also celebrated a beautiful Father’s Day with my son – dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. I told him I’d pick up the tab until he can count his change (he’s only two). LOL!
In addition to spending time with my son, what touched me was the opportunity to spend time with kids from “Fuel Up To Play 60.” It’s a program sponsored by the NFL and the Dairy Council to get kids excited about fitness and healthy nutrition. The goal is for kids to eat food that fuels them so they can play for at least 60 minutes a day. It’s a cool program and it helps prevent kids from becoming couch potatoes. I hope me and my NFL brothers are making the First Lady proud by doing our part to fight childhood obesity.
I love fashion and it was nice to participate in a recent Perry Ellis event at Macys in San Francisco. I signed footballs for all you fashionista fans that came out, and I want to send a special shout out to Strawberry from Movin’ 97.7 for doing a great job hosting.
So to sum it all up, my summer’s been busy but the icing on the cake is my upcoming trip to Europe. I’m hitting London and Paris. Look out for some pictures from the Louvre Museum…you know art is my thing.
Also look out for your boy in the movie “I’m In Love With A Church Girl,” which come out in early 2011. Ja Rule, Stephen Baldwin, Michael Madsen and 3LW are in it. It comes out in early 2011 and you guys can follow it on Twitter and Facebook:
I’m not going to tell you about it, you just have to go see it. Until then, stay cool and be good to yourself.
