With the coming of the new year, the Canucks have found a rising star within the roster. As of January 2nd, the third line center of the Canucks, Cody Hodgson, has posted 9 points in 9 games. His efforts have been flawless, as shown by holding a positive +/- thus far through the 2012 portion of the season. With both a cunning offensive sense and a defensive effort equal to that of top line centers in the league, Hodgson is proving to be a valid asset in the Canucks deep lineup. Hodgson's presence became very apparent in his Saturday's late game heroics as he not only scored once in the second to tie up a close battle with the Sharks but he also remained clutch by scoring the game winner with 4:17 remaining in the third period to lead the Canucks to their 29th win on the season. His team leading, two point night pushed him to 29 points on the season, 13 of those points being goals, and his left him 6th in Canucks scoring this season. With output the likes of this coming from a rookie, the Canucks can feel pretty confident in sending out there 3rd and 4th lines, knowing they have support like that on those shifts. Coach Folk's Thinking: "If this kid keeps producing, he deserves more time. I say you stick him on the point with the first line powerplay. The Sedins and Kesler could easily find a way to work this young talent into the PP points column."
