Bynum Upset
Andrew Bynum has deserved his all star spot this year and after all the trade talk swirling around Bynum this season he has stepped up big for Los Angeles. Bynum has been having a career year for the Lakers and has remained healthy so far this season, something Laker fans have been waiting his whole career for. Bynum was benched in the third quarter of an away game in Oakland for taking a quick uncalled for 3 point shot which was followed up on the next possession by allowing a layup with lazy transition defense. This was enough for Coach Brown he called time out and benched Bynum for almost the rest of the game. This is similar message that Coach Brown sent to Kobe by benching him after Bryant had a terrible fourth quarter. Although Mike Brown sent the same message to Kobe and Bynum it was taken differently by each player. Kobe took being benched as his coach making the best decision for that situation in that game and backs his coach 100%. Bynum was seen on the sidelines scowling and didn’t even bother to get off his seat to join the huddle on timeouts. Bynum thinks he deserves more minutes for having an all star season and being a huge part of the Lakers game, but he needs to be humbled. Kobe will have to step up and be the leader in the locker room like he has for so many years. I’m sure he has already had a conversation with Bynum and Andrew can make a big statement game tonight at home against OKC.
