Chargers losing voltage
I have been a Charger fan for as long as I could remember and I have had my share of joy and pains from the bolts throughout the years. Being from San Diego I have been able to be very close to what is happening to the Chargers. San Diego has been a sexy preseason pick for the super bowl for a couple years now and they have choked in every occasion. There has been plenty of good to talk about in the regular season and almost no positives for the post season. This is not a new thing for the Chargers even back in the 80s with Fouts and Winslow they were never considered a great post season team. The plague of not succeeding in the playoffs could be the deciding factor in not only Norv Turner keeping his job but also in trying to keep the Chargers in San Diego. With an outdated stadium and a city that has no money to loan the Chargers it is not looking good for the San Diego Chargers. It seems as if the NFL won’t bring a super bowl back to San Diego until they build a new stadium. With a new stadium looking like a long shot and with LA already starting the construction of their new stadium the Chargers would be LA first choice. The one saving grace for keeping the Chargers in San Diego is the main objective in all sport, winning. With the Chargers having a high powered offense in recent years they have looked as if the winning should come easy, but nothing comes easy in the NFL. After two disappointing seasons with no playoff appearances for one of the NFL's most talented teams something drastic needs to happen. But if anything the changes or lack of changes, in the offseason has weakened our team. Losing our #1 receiver Vincent Jackson and our #2 running back Mike Tolbert has made our offense look very lackluster. Also on top of that the release of Marcus McNeill and the retirement of Kris Dielman have forced the Chargers to rebuild the whole left side of the O-Line. All of these players that had huge roles for the Chargers will be missed. On top of losing these players the AFC West is no longer in the bottom of the AFC. With Manning going to Denver this only compounds the lows for the Chargers. If San Diego couldn't beat the Broncos last year with Tebow at the helm I don't feel assured that we have a shot at the division next year. I hope this lights a fire in the rest of the Charger players and that they go out and win not only for themselves or their coaches put for the city of San Diego and all of their dedicated Fans. They need to make big improvements or we could be soon calling them the Los Angeles Chargers.
