LAKERS: Easy Directions....Tough Traveling
One of the great questions during the 2003-2004 Laker season was what would happen during the offseason. Well, we all knew there would be changes. We all knew that it could get ugly. We all knew that the Lakers as we know them are over.....in that form.
But, what the Lakers are going to do is actually pretty easy to map out. But, there are so many forks in the road that you...
Rudy T Out....Is Phil Jackson Back In???
What’s going on Rudy T?
Apparently, not the working relationship between the Lakers and Tomjanovich. It seems that Rudy T isn’t just ill as once thought...but there is something going on behind the scenes that may force him out as Lakers coach. Until he speaks...no one knows what that is.
Rudy T has some physical issues. He "retired" from the Houston Rockets because...
The "Glory" of "Glory Road"
I think very highly of Scoop Jackson on many levels. For one, he has the zest of the sports he covers [mainly hoops] yet tells it in the most informative ways. Not a fan storyteller. He's been on SportsBloggersLive.com several times and I have had the pleasure of going on the air right after him....actually going against his take [he said that Phil Jackson would be a Knick...
THE PHIL JACKSON SWEEPSTAKES
Phil Jackson in LakerLand with John Travolta, Danny Devito and Anna Nicole Smith
I was on discussing the fate of Phil Jackson....and I wasn't really satisfied with all of my comments. I was tired...and when I call the show, I do so from work. So, at times, my thoughts go flying thru my head and I don't convey them as well as I want to. So, here is my take on what Phil...
Phil Jackson Is A Laker Again
PHIL’S COMING BACK: While it still seems that he’s not coming back to completely open arms [especially in the fan community], he’s back. It is a move that is both surprising...yet non-Earth shattering. Since Rudy T quit mid-season...Jackson’s name has been on the tip of the tongue of Laker fans. And though there were some slow dances made with the Knicks and Cavaliers...it...
Grumpy Old Man
RED AUERBACH JABS PHIL JACKSON. Auerbach, 88, has had a tough summer with stretches in the hospital due to an undisclosed reason. He was back with his Celtics and in front of the camera taking yet another jab at Phil Jackson. Big Red says "Phil obviously is a good coach, you don't win that many games without being a good coach. One thing, though. He's been very fortunate...
AROUND THE NBA
*Don’t be fooled by the courting of Phil Jackson. Despite some other teams getting into the fray, it will be either Los Angeles, New York or his home in Montana. Both the Knicks and Lakers can offer the money and prestige for running their franchises. All anyone else can offer is LeBron James. And Cleveland just doesn’t seem to be Phil’s kind of town. The Lakers need this more...
R.I.P. Red
Red Auerbach has passed away at the age of 89.
As a Laker fan, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Red, who led those "evil" Celtics into one of sports' biggest dynasties. His Celtics teams were indeed stacked....but he's the one who stacked them. Not only did he see the talent...he got the most out of it. He dealt for Bill Russell and made a black player...
Wiley Riley
Let's see. Phil Jackson will be back coaching the Lakers. Larry Brown is still wiggling in his Pistons head coaching job. And now, there are rumors swirling around Miami that Pat Riley may bump Stan Van Gundy off the Heat bench.
Amazing that Riley would do such a thing. His talk says he is missing coaching....the comradarie and fellowship of grown men fighting for a common...
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson looking to limit Derek Fisher's minutes
The 35-year-old guard averaged 32.2 minutes in Lakers' first five games. Jackson says that ideally, he'd like to keep the 14-year veteran under 25 minutes a game to help him be fresh for playoffs.
In five of the Lakers' seven regular-season games, veteran guard Derek Fisher has played way too many...
Josh Powell's energy translating into success for Lakers
With a depleted lineup, Coach Phil Jackson calls the reserve big man the team's most reliable player off the bench and his efforts showed again in a victory over Memphis.
It was noteworthy in that it was high praise.
