Red Auerbach has passed away at the age of 89.
As a Laker fan, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Red, who led those "evil" Celtics into one of sports' biggest dynasties. His Celtics teams were indeed stacked....but he's the one who stacked them. Not only did he see the talent...he got the most out of it. He dealt for Bill Russell and made a black player...

The 35-year-old guard averaged 32.2 minutes in Lakers' first five games. Jackson says that ideally, he'd like to keep the 14-year veteran under 25 minutes a game to help him be fresh for playoffs.

With a depleted lineup, Coach Phil Jackson calls the reserve big man the team's most reliable player off the bench and his efforts showed again in a victory over Memphis.
It was noteworthy in that it was high praise.
