Another British Champion Carl Froch says he can beat his opponent ? This weekend will deliver another testimony of whether Froch can produce a victory for his country Great Britain. Carl Froch who will be moving to the states soon in the hope that he will continue to fight big names after his re-scheduled fight with Andre Ward on the 17th of December. From the statement that he made to the "Daily Mail" newspaper last week its seems that he has no attention for the UK and he feels there is something missing and lack of professional support especially with the television networks. He said, "I wasn't backed by Britain even after I won the world title, that fight with Jean Pascal was on TV but even the British TV never really got behind me, but now I have a couple of big fights in the US, the TV people over there are so supportive."
The fight date was changed from this weekend to the 17th of December as Ward sustained an injury during a sparring session in training. This was a legitimate injury as questions were asked again; fortunately for him the Showtime's documentary series "Fight Camp 360" were there filming and captured the unforeseen event. Therefore the Froch camp was quiet about it however frustrating they thought it was.
Ward was surprised himself that he was cut as it never happened to him previously in training. He stated, "I've never been cut in sparring like that before, honestly, I can't tell you one thing that caused it, there was no elbow, no head butt, you know I was in an exchange and came out the bleeding."
Froch has been dishing out advice over the weekend with regard to the loss of Amir Khan to Lamont Peterson he urged Khan to take some time out and take a break to refocus, he said "I think he needs to have a breather. I don't think he should jump straight back into a rematch but I suppose he wants to get his titles back as quick as he can. They need to just take their time with him. He's been on fast track for a few years and he needs to just have a couple of sensible fights."
He may claim to be Britian's hottest talent in boxing right now, as David Haye lost his fight in the summer and now Khan has moved down in reputation he said, "I am the top fighter in Britain at the minute, if people want to give me credit for what I have achieved then great, If they don't I'm not bothered."
Andre Ward surely deserves credit for his position on the scene and is not more less than 6th in the rankings right now as stated by "The Ring" and "Sports Illustrated" and is rated amongst the best pound - for- pound boxers in the world. He has clearly dominated this division with no losses on his record and he has been defending himself already before the fight on Saturday with regard to the remarks that were made that he is a dirty fighter, this was in relation to a headbutt on his opponent Kessler, he said " I'm secure and confident in who I am as a fighter, I don't have to defend myself, If you look at Kessler, you can't take one bad thing that happened and let it engulf the whole fight, I beat Kessler handily, before there were any headbutts they were completely accidental, there was no clear injustice in this sport you have to have thick skin, but I don't use that as motivation."
He also feels that he has worked hard and he won't let his opponent Carl Froch demoralise him anyway he told Goosen Tutor Promotions that, "If I listen to this kind of talk I wouldn't be this far, just let him keep talking, I love to talk the loudest on the night of the fight, I'm firm and not a pushover and I'm a guy who bites his tongue, I know where my strength comes from, God has continued to bless me and if I want to continue to be blessed I gotta stay humble."
Therefore the "Super Six World Boxing Classic Finale" will be held on the 17th of December at Boardhall Walk in Atlantic City and will be fighting for the vacant WBA and WBC (Super) titles.
